The term seems to make it seem like every aspect of society was designed by men to benefit men at the expense of women.

That is literally the way feminism defines it.

I prefer the term "Equalarchy".

If you actually look at cultures this term is usually referring to, at no point were women ever marginalized more than they were privileged. This wasn't the freakin apartheid where women were ushered into ghettos, specifically targeted for lynching, unjustly imprisoned, and kept out of sight as undesirables.

To the contrary, women were given the benefit of staying at home with children, something studies show the majority of women today consider a luxury, had to do the minority of labor, got to spend money without earning it, had more leisure time, formed social clubs which were highly desirable parts of society, were protected from everything, received reduced accountability everywhere, were valued on average for less merit than men, and unlike men 1 in 3 able bodied women didn't have to risk their lives and destroy their bodies during conflict at times. The list goes on.

The common concept of the patriarchy is like describing a constitutional monarchy as being completely ruled by the people because the king isn't allowed to do hard labor, or be a foot soldier, therefore concluding the king is oppressed and the people are the ones in actual control.

Currently we have a system where women are just absolutely privileged, and you can't even discriminate against them on the basis of pure merit, they cannot have any downsides even if those downsides are a result of privilege and they refuse to earn benefits. Many women literally feel they are currently completely oppressed under these conditions because having no downsides, even when earned, is not absolutely the reality in every aspect of life.

This is beyond madness. Up is down, left is right, privilege is complete oppression.

A patriarchy has never existed in the history of major cultures. If it did we'd be sending women to fight our battles, and the men would be the ones which had no accountability, and got to spend most of women's money for doing less work. It's always just been levels of gynocentrism, and only for a time did we get closer to relative equality.

Hope not because that’s not true. No matter what you call it feminism is a powerful hate movement that harms everyone.

What you said it sounds like is how many gender studies academics define patriarchy to be. It's not that it seems to mean that, it's that is how they use and define the term.

The whole notion is contradictory. If women were this easily controlled by men, there is no way they could ever be equals. I don't believe any of it for a second.

I raised the same point one. The bad ard always patriarchy, mansplaining, manimony .when all those vices are not specific to men. Feminism doesn't target men but all bad things are named after them. Yeah sure!

The problem with Patriarchy, is that it is vaguely defined in relation to social roles. This is done on purpose, so that people can call almost anything "patriarchy" as a way to shut down arguments and remove guilt. It is the same as "sexual assault", which sometimes it is used to also include catcalling, or just staring. By not clearly defining such terms, feminists can twist their meaning and skew statistics however they want, while simultaneously placing all blame on men.

First off gents, let's not let them change the definition of the word. The word patriarchy does NOT mean in favor of men.

Definition: a system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it.

We DO NOT live in a patriarchy, women can hold office and power, and there is NO exclusion at all, not even a general one. Nothing about patriarchy is at the expense of women, that part was made up and thrown in to make it sound worse. We use to have one, that ended in 1920 when women could vote and run for federal/national office.

This is also not a family, where it's a patriarchy if a man leads. This is just a term to place blame, and it's a misused term where the definition is being changed to make it sound much worse.

You're assuming Feminists have good intentions at heart, you're assuming they don't seek to uniquely target Men on purpose.
