I don't think of it as giving up, but rather "focusing my time, money, and energies on other pursuits that I enjoy". All of life is a series of trade-offs because of limited time and resources. What will you do with your limited time and resources, chase women, pay for dates, go from one relationship to another hoping to find one that is compatible? That can be a pretty big gamble with a fairly low chance of success unless you have the looks, money, and charisma to attract and keep some high quality women, but if you succeed you might have some long-term happiness. Another option is to spend your limited time and money doing what makes you happy in the short term. That could be anything from fishing to sports to hanging out with friends to playing video games. It might be improving yourself or helping others in some way, such as learning to draw, learning a new language, traveling to other countries, fixing up a car or house, taking care of your elderly parents, volunteering at a homeless shelter, planting a garden, and so much more. There are endless possibilities that are enjoyable and rewarding.

Once you realize all the possibilities, you just have to ask yourself, how are you going to spend your limited time and resources?

Is going MGTOW really the best response to getting hurt? The way I have seen it, a MGTOW is a MGTOW because he was, broadly speaking, pursuing a relationship and got burned...bad. But if that is the case, isn't that just "giving up"? There are 3.5 billion women on this planet; surely there are millions upon millions who would be suitable wives and girlfriends. So why decide on the impulse to just "check out" of the entire game?

No man anywhere has any moral obligation to partner up with anyone. If someone feels that getting into a relationship (or trying to) is not worth it for them, they're right. And no man has any obligation to "redeem" women by dating them in succession until he finds a "good" one.

Yes, it is "just giving up".

MGTOWs recognize that the game is stacked against us. Legally. From false accusations to no fault divorces, men are put at such a disadvantage that the risk is insane. So why play that game? The only rational response is to not play, or to "give up".

I'm single, mgtow, and wouldn't trade it for anything. My money is my money, my time is my time. I do what I want, when I want. So really, what benefit does a relationship offer?

I thought MGTOW was more in the way of prevention, not cure.... but it's also more (I believe - don't know much) a man taking control of his own life and not about bashing women, or avoiding women, or blaming women. The women thing comes in because in our society today, in order for a man to take control of his life fully, he has to avoid women, because of all the fucked up laws, institutional practices and sexist pressure and entanglements on men as soon as he gets with a woman. It's hard to be a volunteer if you're drafted.

But isn't there a more MGTOW orientated forum somewhere to ask this?

I personally find MGTOW rather bizarre and even slightly ridiculous (no offence intended to anyone who is one), but from what (admittedly little) I know of them, 'getting hurt' is quite far from the reason for them 'going their own way.'

If it were mere petulance driving them, I doubt the term would exist at all.
