He's not wrong, but I don't believe he's making that statement neutrally. This tweet is part of a wider cultural tendency to bash men, and as such, I despise it.

Although the inherent post is 100% true, you have to read in between the lines.

You never see this type of tweet/post about women. Why does no one post "girls are not special for having a career, girls who don't cheat are not special, girls who don't have a baby are not special.?"

Because feminism is a political stunt to praise women for being special and breaking gender norms while men are told it is expected of them to act normal (which is true, but it never goes both ways).

I have no problem with this. I would however say that the same is true for women. Doing/not doing those things doesn’t make them special either.

By making the statement to men, that normal behaviour doesn’t make one special, it asserts that:

All/most men believe do believe normal behaviour makes them special.
All/most men aren’t behaving normally.
All/most women do behave normally.
All/most women don’t need to have this same fact pointed out.

I can’t help but infer, that the motivation to address this specifically to men is, that this person has stereotyped all men as being less than women. Does this person really believe that half the world’s population needs his wake up call?

I agree with all of it except the last sentence. I agree that all of those are not special, in that they are not rare or unusual.

I disagree with the implication of the last sentence: That is not what a normal man -should- be like. It is what a normal man IS like already, and always has been.

The vast majority of men who have ever lived never raped, never cheated, treated women equally and took care of their family. That is normal.

Now, I would like to know the context, is he saying that with the subtext that those men are rare but still not special, or speaking to women saying that they shouldn't think a man is special just because one of those things? They've used the modal verb "should" which is most commonly used to make recommendations or give advice. It can also be used to express obligation as well as expectation. Just replace "should be" with "is". It's just deceptive discourse management.

I would love if people didn't act one of two ways to this sentiment, one, don't pat the male feminists on the back for pointing out they do or don't do stuff like this. Two that feminists don't say essentially this exact same thing isn't worthy of praise.

Hell I’d say there are significantly less women that want true equality than men. Like who the fuck is unironically saying ‘women should stop working and get back in the kitchen’? Now there are a lot of woman saying ‘I want the freedom of being able to make my own money but I also want my man to make more money than me’. Then they go onto complain about inequality.

Imma keep going just because. But why the fuck does it seem like men’s rights movements are far more reasonable and fair compared to feminist movements? Hell we agree with a lot of the shit said in feminist subs. We don’t want them taken down. We don’t call them hate groups. But when we have greviences with their viewpoints we seem to be able to easily be able to point out how hypocritical those views are. We do this with logic and without a giant educational institution backing our narratives. Feminists subreddits seem so bigoted because they have the backing of the higher educational institutions that have fabricated terms and narratives that are only backed up by the beliefs in those terms and narratives and anecdotes. There is no string of logic, barely any statistics to back up their claims, all they have is terms like ‘misogyny’, ‘toxic masculinity’, ‘straight white male’, ‘white privledge’, etc... without any meat to back up those claims other than ‘read a book and educate yourself’ or ‘my experience is my proof’.

WE WANT TO WORK TOGETHER! WE ARE YOUR ALLIES! WE BOTH HAVE PROBLEMS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED!

I sincerely don’t get why they are so hostile. Its like finding someone at college that has a lot of the same interests as you but saying fuck them because you have a few different minute beliefs that could be worked out through conversation. We could have genuine good debates and conversations. Why don’t they allow us to have them?
