it's not very painful, and it's well worth given the control it restores to you over your own genetic material.

yes, tell the wife, she has a right to know. that said, if she makes a fuss about it, too bad. it's your body, your decision.

If so, then tell your wife. You don't need her permission, but you do need to let her know if you're going to unilaterally destroy your opportunity to have more kids together. If that is a dealbreaker for her, then she needs to tell you that if you're going to make an informed decision about whether or not to be sterilized.

Your family "how it is" is not something that you are guaranteed to preserve in any case. But you certainly stand the best chance of doing so if you are honest with your spouse about your fertility decisions.

Yes, of course it hurts. Why are you even worried about that? It's minor compared to your other potential problems with this.

Why the hell would you save sperm if you're so sure that you have had all the kids you want to have?

Mine was a quick half hour or so operation and I was awake the whole time.

I was sore for a couple of days but it just meant staying on the couch for a long weekend.

Should I tell my wife?

Hell yes. There is no way you will not get caught unless she is gone aware for several weeks. and doesn't see you naked until the stitch is gone and redness is gone.

Besides, It's not right to lie to the women you supposedly love and are building a life with over something so important. But in the end, it's your body, your choice even if she isn't happy about it.

My grandfather had one after eight children and my father had one after four; neither reported any lasting discomfort or negative health effects and both were satisfied with the procedure. My father recommended it for men who were not interested in having any more children.

Good luck finding a doctor willing to perform the surgery without signoff from your wife. So you have to find a doctor who doesn't know you're married

I'm finding conflicting sources on whether vasectomy is reversible. Some sources claim 95% success, some only up to 70%.

If your wife doesn't agree, it means she won't be honoring your wish for no more children. At that point, time to move on.
