Now, I am not a feminist, or at least I don't brand myself as one. I just believe in equality of opportunity, equal political rights to everyone and other obvious stuff. I know that technically makes me a feminist, I like to call myself a sensible person.

Feminists don't believe in stuff like that. They believe in making up for the past by reversing it in the present, the patriarchy and female oppression by men.

When Adobe came to recruit for a software development related job profile, they said they only required women.

Then one day, this sort of came up in our class Whatsapp group, and not a single girl said anything. They only said they were so proud that a girl had secured the job offer from Adobe.

Yep, I think we should dub this "toxic femininity" and should have Dove soap make an add about women needing to do better.

You aren't technically a feminist. That's a widespread feminist lie to indoctrinate and label people without their consent. Believing in equality doesn't even make you a feminist according to feminists. You're only really feminist according to feminists if you believe in equality for all and you pursue equality through the "feminist lens". It's a lie by omission. You also need to do activism and you need to do it in a way feminists approve of.

They benefit heavily from the lie because it paints feminism as something almost everyone can agree with. It actually creates societal pressure to identify as a feminist because if you don't then it looks as if you don't believe in equality, which isnt true.

Here's a more practical explaination. Feminists are activists for "equality". If you become an activist for equality, you are only really considered a feminist if you persue equality through the "feminist lens". According to many feminists, men don't have a say in what that is. Otherwise MRAs would be feminists - according to feminists.

I know this isnt really related to the Adobe issue (which really sucks btw). I just wanted to address this one thing because of the insidious nature of some of feminism's lies. They need to be dismantled and debunked.

What you likely hate here is equity, which is a major point of feminism. Most feminists seem to not like it either, let me explain why.

Equity is equality of outcome, which requires discrimination from step 1. If I have 9 female employees and 10 male and I want equity, I have to discriminate based on gender (by choosing to not hire males) and hire a female to achieve equity. Feminists call this positive discrimination, likely focusing on the positive effect on the woman that was hired, ignoring the negative effect on the men discriminated against.

Now, some say something like "That sounds sort of wrong, but you know, it has a good goal!" This is consequentialist morality, and not everyone thinks this way.

Equality (the default meaning) is equality of opportunity. This means that everyone gets a fair shot, incidental features be damned. Companies look at your resume and interview you to find if you are the best fit. Now, some may argue that this allows some bias... and they are right. People can use their positions and be unconsciously or consciously biased to favor certain groups. However, this bias is not systematic, it varies individual to individual. Plus, companies have incentives to reduce this through negative consequences such as negative publicity and anti-discrimination laws. Plus, companies should naturally want the best workers... to do otherwise is stupid.

The reason I said feminists don't even like equity is because we are seeing this now. Because of programs enacted by or for feminists, males are starting to receive protection... and they are furious. Men are now the minority in colleges, which means funding that was going toward women, policies that lowered standards for women, etc are now being switched to favor men... and they are pissed. They did not like equity. They liked equity only when it benefitted them... which is just legal discrimination.

Fucking hell that's pretty amazing if it's true and Adobe is even pulling this shit. You don't fuck around with coding, does anyone remember the whole Linux issue where programmers threatened to withdraw over social justice bullshit?

If companies are going to go out of their way to ignore male applicants then who the fuck is going to replace the older coders when they retire and the next generation comes along? I'll tell you what will happen, all these virtue signalling companies will go out of business and then that will be the end of it for the software which pisses me off because I regularly use Adobe Photoshop for my work.

They will not be able to fill the positions for coders by ignoring half the population of the entire planet and women just aren't that interested in programming generally so they've shot themselves in the foot with the quotas to begin with then done it again by picking the gender that has the least interest in this kind of work.

If I went and asked the average woman out on the street whether they had considered taking on a job as a programmer they'd probably straight up laugh at me. I wonder if you shouldn't consider contacting a news site like Campus Reform and ask them to investigate this for you if you want to make some noise about this.

You have logic and that is something feminist don't have. However, if Adobe was only hiring whites (place any racial or ethnic group here) then it would be wrong and racist and even if only one white got the job it would still be racist. The hiring practice at Adobe is blatantly sexist. If no one ever stands up to these groups then why should they change? Men cannot stand up for themselves because they will be attacked as misogynists, whiners and incels. What the world needs are more women who stand up for themselves and for anyone who is discriminated against. Thank you for seeing through the BS though. Its good to know people like you have open minds and can think for themselves.

Feminism is about equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity. Equality of opportunity is what we already have because it's illegal to discriminate based on gender. Feminism can only fight for equality of outcome because the other battle is already won.

The response of course is that it's to make up for the decades or centuries or whatever of the reverse happening. However, if that's true, it still doesn't make any sense because young men and women entering the workplace now weren't even alive back then. But, it's not even true. Are we really supposed to believe that 50 or even 500 years ago, professional recruiters made a point of saying, "We only want men"? I sincerely doubt it.

Probably would have been called illegal under title IX for the university to promote sexist recruiting. Also would have been called illegal under the Civil Rights Act for the company to say no women need apply. Both rules are theoretically gender neutral.
