This is a very disgusting idea, not just for the blatant misandry/sexism but because it will affect the livelihood of those male drivers as well. It is, in the most literal sense, discrimination in the work place, and it goes against both equality of opportunity and equality of representation. The answer to this, however, should not be "well men should be able to refuse women too then". That is equally just as sexist and wrong. The answer should simply be to not accept this kind of ruling in the first place, and now allow sexist extremism set the precedent.

We should respond by rating every female driver with 1 star and cite "i prefer a male driver" as the reason.

Also, cancel and rebook the ride if it pairs you with a female.

If we let Uber get away with this, more will follow. Next, men will have to sit in the back of the bus because they will implement women only sections on public transportation then, other businesses will begin discriminatory practices like these.

They’re creating questionable curating tools for the West and handing over the power solely to one gender as curators. Just look at AWDTSG and the Tea app. Men’s apathy in the face of this obvious concerted effort will be their undoing. All the major corps and govt are in on it, why else would lawsuits be dismissed and the existence of these tools tolerated in the face of clear breaches in ethics, rules and laws.

If this world teached me anything is that thing like this tends to backfire in a very beautifull way, i can't wait for people to refuse to use female drivers, there are a lot of stereotype about female drivers, and even if i am wrong i used a lot of uber and there are not so many female drivers so people will be able to take male drivers at a lower price and everybody will win hahaha.

The cities that they are piloting this in, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Detroit, are liberal cities with some of the best public transportation systems available in the United States.

While they don’t all excel in every one of these areas, these three cities have public transport systems that are among the most affordable, most extensive, most ADA accessible, most reliable, and most varied methods in the entire country.

Point being, if you don’t want a male driver then take the vastly superior public transport that uniquely available in your cities, you self-centered privileged assholes.

This is clearly a marketing stunt, not an operational decision. They know that liberal feminist women in these cities will eat it up. It’s an ad campaign.

I’m mostly just curious if surge pricing will be separate for the women only section if there aren’t enough female drivers. Would be interesting to see how large a price differential needs to be in place before the preferences go away.

Are there men complaining about being asked inappropriate sexual questions by their female drivers?

False reporting is about 2-10% of cases. Enough that I get if you'd prefer to avoid the situation entirely. I'm all for it.

Edit:

Not sure if people understand, but I'm clearly stating that if you, as a man, are concerned about false reporting (which is what OP brings up) you should be able to request a male driver.
