Age gap relationships are not that common because people with different age groups don't interact that much, not because people hate age gap relationships.

This is true for smaller age gaps, but not the more extreme ones. A man in his 40's will have a much harder time getting women in their 20's, than in their 30's, no matter where he hangs out.

If you’re an older person going to a space full of younger people you often stand out in a bad way. The vibe is very “what’s unc doing here” and sure, you might succeed with one woman who’s friends are begging her not to go with you, but it really isn’t a thing an older person should do

Nearly four in ten (39%) have previously dated someone with an age difference of 10+ years.

especially in america they have this idea you must only date people in your life stage (despite yapping about diversity being a strength) they think relationships are like business mergers where partners must be perfect equals moving in the exact same pace through life. This mentality is a product of a highly structured industrial society where life itself is treated like a corporate ladder it leaves little room for the idea two people might click despite having different birth certificates.
