Are most rape accusations false ?

I don't know if most rape accusations are false, but I think most public rape accusations are. I'm pretty personally familiar with the effects rape can have on a person, and it's the kind of thing you're scared to tell close friends about, let alone the media. That mattress carrying girl was, in my opinion, out for attention alone. I mean, imagine that situation. Seeing that girl, people probably came and asked her what the hell she was doing, did she just reply, "oh, I was raped, and the school didn't handle it the way I thought they should have." Who talks about their rape casually?

Most public rape cases are false. From duke, Kobe, Lena Dunham, matress girl, and UVA frat. Very few popular rape cases are actually proven.

I've been on the sub over a year and haven't noticed this at all, if it's actually a thing. I did see where Roosh argued that most public accusations are false. The difference between this and what you're saying is clear as day to anyone with a room temperature IQ or above.

Again this is the dichotomy between college "moral" rape and actual criminal rape that gets reported to the police. Do I think there are a lot of "real" rape claims are false? The majority of people freed from jail by the innocence project with dna Tests turned out to be accused rapists rather than Murderers on death row as intended. But I still think false criminal accusations are fairly low. The false rape claims I think RP talks about are campus date rape stories, aka the moral transgression of the nonmindreader rape

The central premise here -- that TRP believes most rape accusations are false -- is incorrect. Every TRP discussion on the matter that I can recall eventually tuns up the 8% and 40% figures cited by OP, and the consensus is that the truth is somewhere within that range. I don't know of a prominent TRP discussion that assumes false rape accusations are more common than real ones, and if those conversations occur they certainly don't happen often.

For a post asking "Do they have any evidence for their claims?", OP provides zero evidence for their most prominent claim.

There's a study by Eugene Kanin that always gets brought up in these debates - he conducted a pretty poor piece of research with gaping methodological flaws and came up with a very high rate of false rape accusations. It's a terrible work and people shouldn't be using it to provide evidence. Just wanted to head that one off before it gets brought up.

Competently carried out work consistently comes up with a rate of around 10% of rape accusations being either provably false or admitted false by the accuser.

MRA shit lord here, there are wide range of studies with a wide rang of results.

8% is on the low end there are studies the put it at around 90% on the high end. the scatter plot of studies puts it in the 40-60% range. The most reliable number i cite is the DNA exclusion rate which is 25%.

Some feminists will tell you that only 2% of rape accusations are false while the MRAs will go as far as to tell you that 40% of rape accusations are false.

Those feminsit are citing susan brown miller who made an off the cuff statement in a mimeograph at a conference. no study as ever found the 2% figure to be true. it get thrown around a lot by feminist. through the woozle effect and the evidence by citation fallacy it has been made really hard to disprove. really a lot feminists debate and write essays like college freshmen.

HOW THAT FUCK CAN YOU PROVE ANY CRIME IS UNDEREPORTED? If that study weren't behind a pay wall i would pick it part. you can't have a darker number than unreported crime. if we are pulling numbers out of our ass 5000% of men will commit suicide because of women.

I personally think it is because a lot of people don't trust the police, especially when it comes to such personal issues.

Here in Greece the police is viewed as so untrustworthy that people don't even report getting mugged or robbed (I literally know people that got their houses robbed and never reported it because the Greek police is considered a joke).

Another reason could be that women are embarrassed , or they think that they have no way to prove they were raped.

It's unknowable. There's no fair trial so if they were mostly false, we would never know. If you ruin a man's life over an accusation without substance then it goes into the books as a real rape and not as a false accusation.

Depends on the level of progress of the rape charge. You start at the police precinct where a woman reports a rape, she gets questioned, after that she may file a charge, the charge goes to court etc. Every step along the way, a share of the allegations get chipped away - actually justified ones because the woman in question doesn't want to pursue it (I can think of multiple reasons), but also made-up ones because the false accuser realizes that she won't get far. I've read accounts about individual police case workers saying significantly more than half of the reports they got were made up, though these are more egregious cases (and probably also those cops who make actual victims drop their charges due to hostile questioning). But generally, the amoung of false reports at that level seems to be outrageously high indeed - maybe not half, but not that far from it. Though I've also read from defense attorneys saying that a pretty high amount of the cases that make it to court are bogus (but then again, they're defense attorneys...). A research project about rape cases in Germany done in 2014 had the lead researcher peg the false accusation rate at 10% - and that guy was actually on the progressive side and biased in favor of women. And then of course you have feminists who come up with the 2-3%-figure because apparently they operate under the assumption that every rape allegation that doesn't end in a conviction of a false accuser must be true.

However, the thing is that's it's practically impossible to find out the truth, hence the rate of conviction for either crime will be incredibly low. If you raped someone, odds are very good that you'll never do time for it (if it gets reported at all). If you falsely accused someone of rape, odds are again very good that you'll never do time for it either.

I have a friend who was a judge and in his short career of judging criminal cases he had two cases of false rape, one against two men because one teen was scared of her father, and one against one woman, because the mother of the allegedly victim was a nutcase. But his stadistics are more like 1% of all his cases were false accusations.

EDIT: His cases were all from 20 years ago in Spain, and all were violent rapes because very few people go to the police with date rapes. And it's very difficult to make a false accusation on a violent rape.

Yes most are. It wouldn't be like that if you reported the crime. (Yes I know it kinda rude but it's true, everyone says a lot of women don't report rape crimes. Mostly because they are scared, I am scared but I have to face what happened.)

I don't know, but here's the thing. Real rape victims often don't want to bring attention to it (it's retraumatizing, there are untrustworthy cops..). False accusers do want attention though. This could skew the statistics. The fact that rape is an underreported crime doesn't make high false rate less likely. It makes it more likely.

Here's another thing. False accusations remain unpunished. This could skew the statistics further.

And one more thing. Redefining rape as drunk regretted sex, sober regretted sex, sex done because he threatened to break up with you, etc. are not defined as false accusations by laws of the country you are in, even though no real rape has happened. Not a false accusation per se, but some will count them as such.

I'm sure you've seen that graphic posted by feminists that show "100 men" with men figures shaped like the character on a men's bathroom.

98 are outlines; and two are colored-in, in black.

The quote below it reads "Only 2% of rapists will ever spend a day in prison."

Now, here's what they did to arrive at their beloved statistic: They took ALL of the rape accusations. THEN they took all of the men who were CONVICTED of rape and given a custodial sentence. And it turns out that for every 100 men accused of rape, only 2 were arrested AND tried AND convicted AND sentenced for their rapes.

But here's where the sleight-of-hand takes place: The other 98 accused men, we don't know if they are "rapists" or not. But in America, person's (even men) accused of a crime get to be PRESUMED innocent.

So a far more honest use of the exact same graphic would be captioned "98% of rape accusations are false."

And THAT'S the caption we should be running with, until feminist agree to use the most honest caption of all: "In 98% of rape accusations, we don't know which party is telling the truth. THEREFORE, all we know is that the rate of false rape accusations is somewhere between 2% and 98%"

No. A substantial (but less than 50%) proportion of rape reports are likely false. At the same time, the majority of rapes probably go unreported.
