so just for fun, I recently passported my tinder profile to NYC , and to be honest, I am pretty shocked. My profile is exactly the same as the one I used in SF, biggest things are I am software engineer, do paintings / sell art as a hobby, also write poetry, 6 feet tall, have some tattoos. In SF, I normally get 0 matches a day. Like, maybe 2-3 matches a week, from very average or below average looking women. But in NYC, I am getting like 6-7 matches per day, from significantly more attractive women too.

Something i noticed though is nearly all of my matches are what I call creative professionals. Meaning working in publishing, media, marketing, design, dance etc. Basically zero are in any technical field.

This prompted me to ask, is there maybe some difference between dating women or men in technical versus creative professions ? Do creative people appreciate technical people more than technical people appreciate other technical people?
