Okay, I had never thought of this. But it makes sense. I'll do that little "reptile brain" thing for the sake of my argument here, so many of our decisions are made in the subconsciousness and reasoned out by higher thinking in a very "confirmation bias" way.

Testosterone affecting our politics? I wouldn't doubt it. Men are already born risk takers, and testosterone is connected to your physical ability to take risks. An un-socialist political view carries a lot of risk, if you're willing to take the risks, you could become insanely rich, or die trying. Which is the entire buildup of the Y chromosome: Take big risks, get big rewards, spread genes wide. If we take physical strength into the equation as well. A strong man with lots of resources will feel more able to defend his property, therefore, he will be more motivated to keep it. A weaker man will feel less able, and take the diplomatic "I'll give you a bit if we avoid confrontation" solution.

Does that make sense to anyone else?

Perhaps testosterone can indirectly influence political views. Higher-T individuals would probably be more likely to have certain kinds of experiences and the testosterone may cause some effects on cognition too, all of which in turn can influence personality and values which in turn influence political convictions.

But "REPUBLICANS ARE THE MANLY MAN'S MAN PARTY!!" is idiotically reductionist.

Marxism once focused on the hard working man. Fascism was hypermasculine in its rhetoric and style and values (yet at the same time prioritized emotion over reason, which IMO shows that traditional masculinity never really prized reason and logic). It seems possible to put a macho gloss/glamor atop any political ideology.

Isn't it true that in the US women have always overwhelmingly voted democrat? This seems to much of a coincidence to just be swept under the rug, so I am inclined to agree that hormones do affect political views. Is this really that groundbreaking however? everything from your mood to the growth of body hair to the amount of muscle on your body is based upon the hormones in your body right now, this is relatively small in comparison.

I don't know if it's testosterone specifically, but in several European countries the anti-immigration right is supported by mostly male voters.

During the past decades anti-immigrant parties (in the literature also referred to as populist, extreme right/ right winged or radical extreme parties) have won electoral successes in several West European countries. A striking common feature of these successes is that they in large have been confined to male voters. In most countries men have been much more likely to be attracted to anti-immigrant parties than have women .

Men are generally right wing compared to women.

Studies have been circling for a while, and it looks like high test correlates with radical political self interest, but not necessarily conservatism. If your a black kid from a single parent home, high test would (theoretically) make you more radically left, since that's the team that's giving you more stuff.

It's easy to confuse self interest with inherently right wing in the US because the American left stopped offering anything of value to employed men years ago.
