I would feel shitty if she was unemployed because I'd have to constantly treat her and I'm not interested in being someone's sugar daddy. I want a partner who is an equal, not a financial burden.

In an LTR yeah money matters as practicality because you want a reasonable standard of living and these days both partners need to be earning to maintain that.

I don't really care what kind of job you do just make at least roughly the same as what I'm making and it's cool.

Dating: I don't care if she's on welfare. As long as she pays for her own stuff and doesn't rely on me.

Marriage: She has to have some ambition. She needs full-time work (or school + part time job). She can't be in debt. I don't want to have to keep bailing out someone who is irresponsible.

All's said and done, I don't care if you're a CEO or you work in retail. As long as you're stable financially.

It makes sense to marry if both people have debt because one partner can use their entire income towards paying off the debts and they can live on one income. If there's no teamwork or mutual help, there's no real point in marriage. The point is to get more, not less.

Money matters insofar as I make equal or more than her in order to satisfy her natural love of resources. If I'm going to play the high beta role, I gotta make those six/seven figures and more, and she's gotta pass every one of my social tests and close-minded qualifiers with flying colors. Sacrificing my autonomy, freedom, and power for marriage means she better be the closest thing to a heavenly spirit or she's off the bus.

I think that men generally don't care. However, a woman should make enough to pay for her own addictions, whether it is shoes, or handbags, or whatever.

As to the job, my own preference is for quiet intellectuals.

No in the sense I don't care if she is wealthy or not. I do, however, care if she is smart with the money she does have. Frugality is super attractive, and also super rare in young women.

She needs to make enough and be intelligent enough that I would never expect her to resort to prostitution to make money.

I'd rather date a girl that talks about her 3 fucking years at Texas Roadhouse and how much waitressing sucks than a girl that keeps her college years a mystery.

I make 150k a year. For me to seriously consider dating someone she needs to make at least 50k a year.

I have a strong opinion on this.

Money matters but only at the extreme upper end, if you're actually rich, i.e. movie producer, senior partner at an investment bank or tech startup which was running 1000% yearly grow rates like clockwork, to the point you have serious social power and can keep your woman entertained in the most extravagant ways then yes it works in your favour very much. On the other hand software developers and Big4 accountants who scrape six figures and become frugality-millionaires don't have anything on blue collar men who are charismatic and ruggedly handsome.

Women want to be made to feel good and money can only do that if you're a true member of the 1%, rather than a penny pinching member of the UMC.

Slooooooooooow down here. You're first assuming that every guy's out for marriage. Now, I am speaking from a position of my own opinion, but marriage today is a stupid idea. As much fun as the whole reception sounds to me, the legal ramifications of being married (and divorcing) are too much of a minefield.

To answer your actual question? mrcs84usn put it best. If she's not a financial burden, then she's making enough money. Affluence is almost aways going to be better than being dirt poor, but only a sucker would choose a wretched wench with mounds of cash over a fantastic girl with a good heart and a steady paycheck.
