I don't care if he thinks I look average. I don't think I look that great either. But him thinking me looking worse than someone else means I deserve worse treatment is a reason to break up, and quite frankly I am not marrying someone who is going to treat me as anything other than the most important person in their life (as they are to me).

No. He can think I’m average or mid but any comment on my appearance should be positive and I should be the most attractive to him even if he knows there are more attractive people out there. Like I know there are some more handsome men than my husband but to me he’s the most handsome and no one compares I would choose him over any other man in a heartbeat without thought. I would also never tell him anything about his appearance that could potentially hurt him. I think that’s a basic expectation in a relationship especially a marriage, if you’ve got nothing nice to say don’t say it.

Women are told every fucking day by society writ large that we're never attractive enough, thin enough, young enough, feminine enough, whatever. So no, I don't think most women need their partner to believe they're objectively the hottest woman he's ever seen. What matters considerably more is whether he finds her attractive, loves her, respects her, is kind to her, cherishes her, and actually makes her feel desired. That said, if he's drunkenly ranking her as “mid” against his hotter exes and explaining that those women inspired him to put in more effort because they were hotter, then yes, he's being a fucking asshole. Not because she needs to be the hottest woman alive, but because he's explicitly telling his partner that he values other women more highly based on their appearance and thinks she's not attractive enough to deserve the same effort.

And frankly, the whole framing of this question illustrates something men on this sub seem completely incapable of understanding about attraction. So much of what I see here is men trying their fucking hardest to become sexually appealing to other men, according to male ideas of what makes a man high-value, and then insisting that this must be what women want. You don't even seem to understand that women's attraction frequently doesn't operate like your own. Before trying to determine whether women will tolerate being “mid,” maybe figure out what actually makes men attractive to women in the first place.

Absolutely not. A guy getting drunk and telling me he’s not that into me can fuck all the way off. My ex wasn’t super attracted to me. He fell for my personality. I was just attractive enough. He WANTED other women. He SETTLED for me. I want someone who finds me as hot as I find them. Men care more about looks. If he doesn’t like the way I look, he’s not for me.

Relationships are not important enough to settle or be settled for. That said most people are not supermodels so I would not be able to take this seriously if coming from a mid man.
