I am thankful for my son!!!!!! My son arrived on 12/1, and I couldn't be more in love with him! I waited so long to have a baby, and now I can finally hold him in my arms! He is just so precious!
I am thankful for my husband, who was my rock during our son's birth. I had to endure many painful trials before meeting our son, and I could not have done it without his strength and encouragement <3 I am also thankful that he is such a wonderful man - seeing him be so tender and fatherly to our son just melts my heart and makes me fall in love with him even more every day (is that even possible?!)
I am thankful for all of the pain I needed to endure before welcoming my son into this world. It truly transformed me in ways that I didn't know I needed, and I came out so much stronger than ever when all was said and done. I feel incredibly fearless now! I went in so afraid, but now I can move mountains!

I'm grateful for my visa to the US that was in the mail yesterday. I was at the interview for it on Thursday and they told me it was going to be more like next week when I get it. Now I can finally book my flight to the states and actually spend Christmas with my husband!

I'm also grateful for my landlady for being super flexible and letting me out of my place this weekend! Super short notice (because the green card took less time than I thought) and if she just acted within the law I'd be stuck here for much longer. Plus, it's Christmas for her too and I'm sure she wants to prepare for her holidays too.

And most importantly I'm grateful for my husband for making me feel loved from a quarter world away. He's a wonderful man and I'm just so happy I get to be his wife.

Edit: since I will be flying almost on Christmas, would it be weird to bring chocolate Santas are something for the flight attendants? I'm pretty sure I can't give anything to the tsa agents or the immigrations officer but is that something a flight attendant would even care about?

I’m grateful for my cookbooks. My cookbooks have given and taught me so much. I love to cook for my SO (for anyone, honestly), and my cookbooks are the tools I use to love, support, and sometimes spoil my SO and to keep myself healthy, happy, and full of energy. They’re full of notes and flour and unidentifiable cooking stains, and I love them.
I’m grateful for my SO’s work ethic. He is facing some hard stuff at work, and he is handling it. He’s making smart decisions, keeping his chin up, and getting the damn work done at any cost. I’m just in awe of him. It’s also been a great chance for me to practice STFU, since I would be panicky AF in the face of the stuff he’s dealing with, so I’m reminding myself to just trust him and support him by being not his critic or advisor but rather his soft place to land (see above: feed that man all the homemade goodness).
I’m grateful for public libraries! I love to read, and I love how I can get my hands on so many books so easily. I’ve got a book-on-CD going in my car, which has made my commute so much more enjoyable, and I’m burning through fiction like it’s my dang job.

I am grateful to my husband for fixing my graphics card. We won't need to buy another computer after all!
I am grateful for the snow we got on Monday. We got snowed in, H had to work from home, but it's sooooo pretty!

I'm grateful for my friend, A. She was my first friend when I moved to where I consider my "hometown" (I was 8 when we came here). We were never best friends growing up but we never had drama, never fought, and the time we spent together ebbed and flowed but we always kept in at least loose contact. When I moved back to the area after college (when I started dating HB), her and I really started re-connecting.

She's one of the most exemplary people I know. She's so naturally-RP I envy her so much and she's always the best influence on me. I can go to her with anything about my relationship and trust her to interpret it exactly as I meant it, and never go "Team Womyn" on the situation. I can also always vent to her for that reason exactly! There are so many people I would never trust with my trivial relationship frustrations because I don't want to hear "uh uh sister, you deserve better than that boy!" or other dumb things. I can seriously scream for 20 minutes straight about something stupid R did, and then end by laughing and being like "and I just love him so much" and she knows I'm not really angry, I just need to let it out a little bit. She came over with her SO on Monday night and we made cookies, and I was really touched by her thoughtfulness about R when even I didn't think about it. He was at work, and can never eat treats we make because he counts all his macros/calories, so she made him a special cookie she weighed out so he could track it and made sure nobody touched it. He got home late from work and found it with a post-it note of all the macros, and was super excited.

The thing I value most about our friendship is that despite the fact we've been friends 16 years, I would say that's 95% irrelevant to why we are friends. Our friendship is based not on arbitrary dates, but on the quality of people we are.

I'm totally rambling but you can see I really appreciate having her in my life (: and we work together and live only 8 minutes apart and so we've just become each others best support system. I seriously hope I'm as good of a friend to her as she is to me.

I'm grateful for my cousins! As I'm sure many of you have gathered, I have a really dysfunctional family with histories of estrangement on both sides. On my paternal side (the cousins I'm talking about), my dad has one brother, and their dad (my uncle, my dad's cousin) has one brother, but both our dads hate their brothers and cut them out of their lives, then basically became each others brothers instead. So we were pretty much raised as first cousins. They are 3 boys, all spaced 2 years apart from me and my brother. So our ages are 22, 24 (me, only girl), 26, 28, and 30.

Well my dad's brother has no kids, so I don't have any first cousins. But their dad's brother does, a daughter who is around 26 that I've literally never met (even though she's just as related to me as they are, and lives only a half hour from them!). Last spring, her and I started exchanging FB messages and came to the conclusion "our parents all suck, their drama is not our drama, why can't we be family?"

Well being adults, life can make scheduling things hard, but last week she messaged all the cousins and was like "hey, what if we celebrate the holidays together as a family?" and we were all stoked, so Jan 7 the 6 of us are all going to exchange presents and get a lil tipsy together!!

I'm so excited and a bunch of my friends are like "wtf I want an awesome long-lost cousin!". I seriously can't wait to start a fresh generation without any drama so our kids can all be friends (: (:

And finally I'm (as always) so grateful for R. His work schedule has been complete shit recently - no weekends off, and his shifts are either 1pm-10pm or 3pm-12am (whereas I'm M-F, 8-5)...aka we spend 0 time in the house together. We've been getting really upset at our lack of quality time, and Saturday morning as he left the house for the day he opened the door, paused, and then took a step back in and said "hey, look pretty by 8pm" and left.

He came back and showed up with flowers and peppermint chocolates, and took me out to a really nice dinner date! It was just a breath of fresh air after not having enough time together. He even said that he was going to make it his priority to take me out twice a month, and that he was really proud of us for how much we've been saving and not going out excessively, but that "we aren't that broke and a nice dinner out is something that's healthy for us too". We got home and he unwrapped the chocolate and put half in his mouth and came over to get me to bite the other half....it was a thin and rigid piece so it just shattered awkwardly leaving us to try and catch falling pieces with food falling out of our mouths. He just goes "god damn't, everything is cuter in the movies" and walked off. I laughed pretty hard at that.

I am grateful for my amazing husband who just got a raise at work. I'm so proud of him and so honored that he wants to take care of me.

I'm grateful for my warm home. I see so many people on the streets where I live, and as the weather turns cold some of them will freeze and die. I am so lucky to have a warm and safe home.

I'm thankful for my own resilience. I see so many people in my life who are unable to move past traumas, unable to take personal responsibility for their lives, and have no idea why things happen the way they do. I'm so grateful that I'm resilient and willing to do the work on myself that makes my life and relationship so easy.

I am grateful for my SO's ability to make me smile even if I'm half asleep still.
I am grateful for the /r/keto community. They gave me some good suggestions today so that I can better tailor my diet so that I'm not binging anymore. Going to try those out asap.

I'm super grateful for my dad. He came to visit from the US this week and he did so much for me to help me get back on track; things like appliances and some home repair that DH is too busy to get to. He also helped us get a new dishwasher (no more handwashing dishes) and a dryer (no more drying clothes on the radiator!!). He even looked after the kids for a night while DH and I went on a date!
Segues nicely into being grateful for DH's back-breaking work at university. He's doing a comp sci degree and he's doing so well in his classes! It makes me so humbled to know that he's doing all this so that he can provide for our children and me with a stable, secure job down the line.
I'm really grateful to have found a group of friends in my new city that share a lot of the same worldview as I do. In our last city, it was mostly 17 year old boys (small military town), and finding friends was really hard. But after this move I really feel like I'm in a place where I can grow.

First, I'm grateful to the women on this site, who've helped me get my head straight when I was feeling stressed and angry at my husband about travel plans. I can't tell you what a huge relief this was.

I'm grateful to my husband, for all kinds of reasons. We recently had a really useful talk about how to cope when we're both feeling overworked, and I feel extra close to him ever since. He seems so happy lately too -- working hard and then coming home with a big grin on his face and balloons for the kids.

I'm grateful for having new friends in my life. I'mean also grateful for coffee, and exercise, and so many other things...

1.) I'm grateful to have met the guy I'm currently dating! It's still in the early stages, so still plenty of time for him to reveal some major deal breaker, but I'm having fun getting to know him so far and feeling very optimistic :-)

2.) I'm grateful for my coworkers! Today was our holiday party and I had a fun time. I genuinely enjoy the company of 99% of them.

3.) I'm grateful for the fact that it's raining right now, but I'm inside wearing a sweater! It's so cozy. I just need to make some tea now and it'll be juuuuuust right
