What do you guys think?

While you'll never be aligned on all matters, certain things are deal-breakers. When your political views are so diametrically opposed to one another, it's bound to cause serious issues in the relationship at some point.

Side note - TRP philosophy is very capitalistic. It's the capitalist version of the dating, sexual and relationship world. Fat acceptance and other such ideas attempt to equalize the dating field the same way Marx would have liked to equalize the economy. The two are equal in their failures....

As someone who leans more towards his way of thinking, I'd say you guys are incompatible. Attraction will make you civil at first, but you have completely differing approaches to morality, and you'll lose respect for each other over time. Let him go. His hippie flower chick is out there, and so is your libertarian captain.

As a libertarian, marrying a libertarian, I'll tell you that these viewpoints are a fundamental part of one's personality. We get so caught up in making sure the other person has similar hobbies and tastes in entertainment that we forget about how they view the world. My fiancé and I are both very opinionated and when we do disagree, we often have to drop the subject after a time or debate until the end of our days. I can't imagine doing that about everything.

Your best and worst views on his beliefs are only going to intensify. You're wasting your time.

Politics, though it's just one thing, play a big role since they also relate to your values and how you see life. If you're so radically different that can be quite difficult, I'm afraid. When I first dated my SO, I made it very clear I am a Conservative (overall, as in I'm a traditional woman) and that I support Trump. His eyes glowed with joy, a miracle happened right then and there. We built so much rapport just on that on that day.

As someone who had half of her family (great aunts and uncles) die due to Marxism, I think a vast political difference is an ultimate deal-breaker.

I actually lost a friend because she became an "anarchist" (with marxist qualities) because I told her that I can never accept that Communism/Marxism can be a source of good. She kept arguing with me, saying that it was wrongly applied and that "true" marxism is for the good.

When I pointed out to her that the only reason I am here is because my mother's father high-tailed out of the northern part of Korea and was forced to abandon his family. He joined the military with hopes of freeing his family and his hometown, above the 38th Parallel, but he did not succeed. He never saw them again. All thanks to a Marxist striving for an "ideal world."

I told her that "true" anything doesn't exist, and things can only be valued as they are applied and function. I can't value an ideal if it simply doesn't exist and cannot truly work. She said nothing, just kept saying how "I don't understand."

Also, if you ask any person who had to flee Cuba under Fidel, I'm sure they will have very choice things to say in opposition to this man's "flowery FB tribute." Thousands of people fled for their lives, and it's rather convenient that your man is forgetting that.

My mom is a legal south american immigrant and a registered democrat. My dad is a former military registered republican. They argue about politics but love each other anyway. They vote for separate people (but my dad crossed the line because he hates Trump). Neither are libertarians and politics aren't a big part of our lives, but if they were I imagine it would be more difficult.

Marxism is an ideology based on an oxymoron. You cannot have a Marxist society without a monopoly on force (government). It is purely an emotional worldview because it would only ever amount to state socialism. And we've seen what that always devolves into.

Women who are in LTRs with men who have an emotional worldview rather than a logical one will not respect him because he has weak frame.

As a hardcore libertarian and anarcho capitalist there is absolutely no chance I could date a Marxist or socialist person, it goes polar opposite of my core values.

Only you can decide how much your political differences will effect your relationship. Personally, I don't share a lot of interests with my husband. We do find the same things funny, and he actually likes women who can make him laugh and laughs with him. We don't tend to have intellectual discussions either and both of us have had our IQs officially tested and his is a lot higher than mine. However I get along with him and I enjoy his company and we click, I can't say how or why, it just is and the thought of life without him just makes me desperately sad and I feel at ease with him around. I do however think that shared goals are pretty vital. For example, someone who doesn't want children would have been dealbreaker for me, as would be a man who was too complex and placed a lot of superficial demands on me. I think the key here is compatibility. Does him being Marxist really bother you? Do you want children? How would you handle your political differences when raising kids? For example I don't have a problem with spanking, I think sometimes naughty kids need a light spanking, but my husband hates it, so I refrain from doing it, he knows I would spank if it wasn't for his opinion, but the fact that I don't do it is enough for him, he doesn't care about my belief in it. It really depends on what you are willing to sacrifice for each other, and how set in your ways you both are. I have seen relationships survive where people have different opinions but where both parties get along.
