I will be the first to admit I overthink things but I think this comes from my sensitivity to the emotions/thoughts/behaviors of others.

Anyhow, it is not a huge deal but I wanted to ask you ladies how you dealt with any feelings of your partner being somewhat distant? I did bring it up. Very non-confrontational just with puppy dog eyes and mild humor and he was sweet about it and said he's just been tired but I've noticed a pattern.

This does happen in a somewhat cyclical manner, he is usually very, very physically affectionate. Kissing, touching, cuddling.

But when he goes into his more "alpha" than usual phases and works out multiple times a week, hyper focuses on work, etc. he becomes this more distant version of himself and while I'm happy he's doing what is good for him/what he wants, it almost turns me off. Not sexually, but just in this way I can't describe. I feel like I'm seeing a version of my bf as if he were on the market? Does that make sense? It doesn't send me into a panic but it does bring up discomfort. Not because I think him working out will make him leave but it's just this strange feeling of seeing him in an almost "single" light and not feeling that security.

It brings on a lot of weird feelings in me. I don't really like it. I wish he could do all those things and stay at the same affectionate level but it seems it is one or the other when he's in that alpha headspace.

This isn't all the time and he usually goes back to normal and then back to this but it is a bit disconcerting. I want to feel like he is MY alpha which I only feel when he's as affectionate as usual. Working out, focusing on work, and still coming home and being lovey dovey with me. Not like my boyfriend is being this alpha male and I'm watching him grow away from me. I've been trying to think of ways to make the environment more relaxing so that he could come home and just be himself when he's with me and turn that in-the-zoneness off so that I am not just dumping that on him but rather making the conditions favorable and inspiring that relaxation in him. I know I've been stressed in general which must make a difference in his ability to de-stress around me, although, I've noticed this tendency in him regardless.

Have you had similar experiences or feelings on this? A totally different view? I'm curious!
