Which is the perfect opportunity to surprise him with flowers, his favorite dinner, and a homemade dessert (chocolate chip banana bread)! I'm making a card for him, too--it's his favorite holiday tradition.

We're long distance while I finish my last semester in college and I'm on a tight budget, so I ordered him nicely made cookies with a funny valentines day pun along with two cute character drawings on two other cookies to go along with the pun lol. He doesn't like big things and also doesn't like unnecessary clutter, so I thought something sweet he could eat would sit well!

This is our first Valentine’s Day together, and it also happens to coincide with his last day at the workplace we share before he starts a new job to gain some professional distance. He’s taking me somewhere nice for dinner (I don’t know where, it’s a surprise), and then I’m going to surprise him with flutes and champagne afterwards to celebrate the next chapter of our lives!

He’s not much of a gifts person, he’s more sentimental, so I snagged a “100 Dates” scratch off poster off of UncommonGoods for us to enjoy together. I’m not expecting a gift from him, but I really wanted to get him something thoughtful but also demonstrative of the future we’re planning to spend together.

ETA: forgot to mention I also wrote him a poem and got him a silly, punny Valentine’s Day card that’s plays on two things he loves. That might be my favorite part hahaha.

We bought a pizza on sale on Super Bowl Sunday and froze it for Valentine's Day night. We'll share $20-$30 gifts and have a night in with a movie or a board game. I'll probably make the red velvet cake mix cookies he likes. Neither one of us considers Valentine's Day worthy of a fuss.

For valentines Im making him his favorite steak with some home made fries to go along with his favorite mead. Our first valentines together we had an indoor picnic with blankets on the floor and his favorite movie so instead of that this year I will just be setting up our coffee table with a picnic looking table cloth and some flowers in a vase because otherwise we will be shooing the cats away the whole time. He isnt much of a holiday person so hes happy to just stay inside and do dinner which I prefer over going out.

My wife and I eschewed Valentine's, and we made sure we knew how we felt about each other year round (loved).

That aside, are you sure he likes lingerie? Some guys find it more attractive/seductive to see his woman in a dress shirt of his and nothing else, others might find business casual irresistible.

In the past when I was working we never did anything because I was too exhausted and in turn my husband never did anything because he took that to mean I don't care. The other issue is my in-laws often come into town during that time because it's close to our niece's birthday so they sort of hijack it (they also have done this twice to our anniversary). Any ideas how I can reclaim some of that time to do something special for my husband? His family is very much a family that spends every waking moment together (it sort of drives me nuts). I was thinking maybe his favorite cookies or cake (carrot cake) and a small gift.

It will be a low-key night in as we have toddlers and babysitters are in short order, especially on Valentine's day! Every year I make the best frosted sugar cookies. His mom usually orders everyone a heart shaped pizza (so sweet of her) But if she doesn't I'll make one of his favorite meals. After kids go to bed I'll offer a nice, long massage. I've also ordered a new board game for him but am not sure it will be delivered on time. So that's a maybe....
