Solid post. I can attest to the effectiveness of making lists. Put it all out on paper. Break it down day by day. Something you can actually follow.

For me, the lists I need to make this week include hashing out a 3800 cal diet, adapting a work out routine to my needs, and figuring out a timeline for a project with a fast approaching deadline.

And while we're being honest with ourselves about points, it's also useful to admit to our distractions. List out every aspect of your daily life that doesn't propel you towards your goals or is by all means an expendable activity (relaxation and socialization can be important). Each week cut out one of those activities and replace it with a productive one.

Overall, the spirit of this post can't be stated enough on this sub: actually do it. Why not right after you finish reading this sentence?

focus on just a couple at a time. Trying to level up all your stats at once can cause you to fall short across the board. Cool Idea though

This post is great. I like your list of things you are motivated to improve, seeing the 0 and 1s really puts my life into perspective as well.

I'm interested to know if you have thought about what the most important attributes are. You have listed ones you want to improve, but what are the most important attributes?

It would be great to come up with the core attribute list so we can evaluate ourselves and see where we need to improve

Off the top of my head (with my ratings):

Social life: 4/10

Mental/emotional health: 9/10

Physical health: 8/10

Discipline: 5/10

Leadership: 5/10

Other fun ones:

Hunting ability: 6/10

Mechanical knowledge: 4/10

Fighting skill: 5/10

A lot of your ones would work well as core attributes too

Edit: It's kinda fun thinking about this. I'm gonna make some sort of excel spreadsheet with a whole list. Can upgrade/downgrade overtime. The key will be to do it honestly. Probably a good idea not to let anyone see it too

Be careful not to tear yourself apart by pulling in a multiplicity of different directions and eliminate any striving toward perfectionism, but the general idea looks great. You'll know you've entered a higher form of self perception when you begin to feel uncomfortable during moments where self improvement is not taking place.

My father gave me some awesome advice when I was like 7 years old. I fell down during a base race in little league baseball (where the teams run around the bases in a relay, first team to finish wins). Our team subsequently lost the race.

The first thing he told me when I reached him near our dugout?

"There's another base race next game. Be ready for it."

That impacted me a lot, even at 7. All my life, every time I fail... I use it as a chance to be better at whatever I'm doing the next time I try.

One foot in front of the other. Forward. Always. Never backwards. Slowly, you realize how far you have came, and you start sprinting instead.

Great post man. And cool rating scale. Friends and I have joked about things like that, but never actually listed it out to be critical and take it seriously from that angle. One of the most practical, useful things I've seen on here yet as far as self improvement.

Plates is odd cus i just 2x atm, i cant imagine having 10.

This is fun, i always like the tank class in RPGs anyway.

Take action

To piggyback on this, I will add that your feelings follow your actions. Which is why it's so important to take action on your goals. No matter what you're feeling at the time, when you start to take action, your feelings will fall in line.

For example; there's been plenty of times where I didn't want to go to the gym, and every cell in my body was screaming out to take a day off. But then I went anyway - and about 10 minutes after I started, I was thinking, "Boy this feels great!" And naturally, afterwards, I felt awesome - and very good about myself for going. I'm sure others have similar stories.

Figure out what your goals are. Write down all the steps you need to achieve them. Then TAKE ACTION!

I've considered myself a 4-5 overall, so that sounds pretty reasonable. Since starting TRP I've probably improved plate spinning all 3 points, grooming 3-4 points, frame and boundaries 1-2 points each, social savvy at least 2 points. Not a bad start.... as far as I'd imagined to go, but breaking it down like this is uber helpful, thanks!

Someone should spend time on figure out the best categories and then write down what is needed to be lvl 5/10 in frame, so you would know for sure when to level up and where ur really at compared to others.

I've actually done this with D&D concepts, which is fun. The core, Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma are kind of over-reaching attributes which take a long time to improve but have a great effect on your life. Then you have skills, which are more specific and faster to improve at.
