A little while ago, right after discovering TRP, I was at uni eating lunch, when I saw a girl spot one of her guy friends. This is the (paraphrased) conversation that follows. Let's call the conversationalists John and Sarah:

John: "Hi Sarah, how's it going?"

Sarah: "Ugh, you just caught me at a.... at a weird time. Beta Bob just asked me out."

John: "Really! Bob! What did you say?"

Sarah: "Oh man it was really weird. I just had to say no I guess."

John: "Really? But Bob is a great guy: he looks good and he's really nice. Why'd you say no?"

Sarah: "I know it's just that it's been a really weird time in my life right now. I mean, I just broke up with Chad a month ago, and I'm really just not looking for a relationship right now, because after what he had done to me, I just need a bit of space right now in my life."

At this point she begins to describe how Chad had been hitting her and beating her senseless previously. If she was telling the truth, this guy sounded legitimately messed up, but now here comes the interesting part:

Sarah: "Yeah, I really shouldn't have stayed with him for so long, and I kind of messed up there, but that's why I don't want to get into a relationship now. So, do you know any guys I can start going out with?"

Now this is trp right there: she rejects Beta Bob after riding with Chad for ages by the sounds of it, regardless of how much he was harming her physically, states that she doesn't want a relationship, and then immediately asks for one. Not ten seconds pass between the two absolutely contradictory statements. Now John just nods and smiles throughout this whole thing, but it looks like he knows how women work, but it still shocks me how there is no attempt at consistency. I thought trp only applied to american culture back then. Girls everywhere can't be that bad right? Right? Welcome to Earth.
