It's been said may times: if you're new here, read the sidebar, lift weights (or lose weight), find hobbies and become true to yourself. All great, high-level advice.

I would put forth the following and you may think I'm crazy: the first step to swallowing the red pill is deadlifting.

When people stumble across this sub there may be problems with fashion, social interaction, subtlety; the main issue usually lies in a center that has been brought up to be a certain way. Until you change that center, wearing a new jacket is not going to help.

Deadlifting is the red pill of weightlifting. It's painful, seems pointless and mundane - and it will change your center if you stick with it for 3 weeks. I have never seen an exercise that can do more, faster, than deadlifting. If you're experienced - strap up. If you're novice, pay for one session of personal training and tell them you want to learn proper form.

I realize most of us on here aren't rookies but I would challenge anyone stumbling across this sub for the first time to deadlift 2x/wk for 3 weeks. Then report back. Tell me you aren't addicted.
