Why?

We all know it: appearance and looks matter. Whether it's preferential treatment from waiters, cashiers, colleagues, girls or even police - 'looking good' is always beneficial.

While not everybody is born with superior (facial) aesthetics looking like a model, you can still significantly improve your overall appearance with effort and consistency.

What?
From head to toe I'll list some things and tips you can do that will absolutely improve your looks without having to refer to plastic surgery or other super expensive treatments (for most of you that is).
Remember that some things might seem obvious and a no-brainer but believe me when I say, there's still new guys flocking to TRP that have never learned to take proper care of themselves.

For example, today I had dinner with a group of people where I met a 22 year-old guy that completely lacked table manners when it came to using cutlery. Guy just couldn't properly use a knife and a fork together without making a fool of himself and looking like a caveman; guess what, he never learned it as he was mostly eating fast food as a kid and teen and his parents weren't big on manners either and didn't teach him. Same shit applies to personal hygiene. Not everybody was taught to take proper care of their beard/hair/teeth etc.

How?

The goal here is not to look like some metrosexual gayboy or that guy that spends most of his time in front of a mirror.
We are going for the effortless and naturally good-looking thing. We don't want a flamboyant and overgroomed appearance. Bitch, I just woke up like this, washed my face and look fucking amazing - that's what you wanna convey.
You know how girls like an athletic body with a six-pack but when it comes to the actual work 'behind the scenes' of having an immaculate diet, weighing food, counting macros, going to the gym 6 times a week they don't wanna hear it. Like 99% of the people you meet they want to see results and couldn't give a shit how you got there - again effortless and naturally good-looking

Disclaimer
Not everything I list and tell you here will work for you. Results may and will vary and I just want to give you an idea what you could do if you put some work in. No tips for getting fit building muscles or anything like that as there are already excellent posts here and if you are a fat fuck you most likely know how to lose weight (hint: calories in, calories out).

Head/Face

The most important part of your body as you cannot hide or cover it like other parts. If you have a bit of a belly or love handles, just temporarily put on a sweater until you get rid of them or are at least t-shirt ready, no big deal; but if you have awful eyebrows, skin, teeth and hair nothing but a plastic bag will save you.

Hair

If you suffer from genetic hair loss and have the means either go to the derm and get on medication (rogaine etc.) or consult a hair transplant specialist. If you don't have the means, a buzzcut or completely shaved will always - and i mean *always** - look better than a combover.*

  • Be aware of your facial shape (oval, triangle, round, square etc.) and that not every haircut will look good on you. As always, low bf is required for optimal facial aesthetics as it will bring out your jaw, chin and cheekbones.

  • Investing once time in a really good (and potentially expensive) barbershop that will show you what can be done by an experienced stylist is recommended to see your true potential in terms of hair. As you want your hair to look neat and clean, I recommend a haircut at least every 2 weeks. Middle eastern and turkish barbers are cheap (mine is $10 per cut), highly skilled and your best friends when it comes to regular haircuts as it's in their culture for men to get their hair and beards maintained several times a week/month.

  • The easiest hairstyle to maintain is the classic short on the sides, longer on top aka skinfade . You can choose on how aggressive you want your skinfade on the side but i recommend to keep it around 0,1-0,2 inches. That way you will have at least 2 weeks until your hair starts to grow to touch your upper ear aka when its time for a fresh cut - with an appropriately styled top its a hassle-free haircut during that time.

  • Having tried many very expensive shampoos, I now exclusively use anti-dandruff shampoo from head & shoulders (classic or sensitive) as it's cheap does an amazing job of being gentle to your skin, removing flakes from your scalp and on top it has a nice smell.

  • If you suffer from brittle or thin hair I recommend Zinc supplements. It will improve your hair and nails. I use Weider Zinc 25mg per tab. I take two pills (50mg/day = 1 morning + 1 evening). Its cheap and with 100 in the tub last me 3 months.

  • Next level shit: If you wanna get the best, thickest and shiniest hair you ever had, use castor oil and coconut oil. I use a tsp. castor oil and a tsp. of coconut oil after the shower, massage it in my scalp in my damp hair, leave it in over night (use a bandana to not get oily sheets) and just use it regular shampoo next day to wash it out. I do it 2-3 times a week and haven't looked back since. A simple google search on these products will provide you all the info you need (i got 10oz castor for $8 which lasts me half a year and 50oz coconut oil for 12$ which lasts me even longer - amazon is your friend)

Eyebrows

Eyebrows might be the most important feature in your face. Ever seen those no-eyebrow celeb photoshops? Having no eyebrows or badly trimmed ones can and will ruin your face. Don't ever change the natural shape of your eyebrows just trim them. Remember you want to trim a hedge to make it look more tidy and not cut a fucking flamingo out of it like it's an English garden

  • After a hot shower your pores are open and plucking your hairs with a tweezer will be less painful; if this is your first time, you can develop redness and tiny blood spots where the hair follicle was - keep in mind to not do before important meetings etc.
  • I place a comb on my eyebrows every now and then to adjust their length with a scissor or electric razor
  • Place a thumb between your eyes - this is the spot that should have no hairs in order to avoid a monobrow.
  • Remember: less is more!!! You can always carefully approach your ideal brow but if you go overboard it will take a long time to regrow those fuckers.
  • leave the original shape of your brow - instead pluck below and above its 'streamline'. This is the most you want to do in terms of trimming - the key is to keep the original shape and just tidy it up a bit.
  • once you have a shape you are content with, it's literally just maintaining it. which will be a breeze if you pluck regrowing every other day.

Nose/Ears

Not much to say here except to be extra careful when use cotton swabs. Please don't use them inside your ear as it can permanently and irreversibly damage your eardrums (hearing loss etc.)

  • Check your nose hair every so often and use a scissor to trim it if needed. Nothing worse if you have a lost hair peaking out your nostrils... gross.
  • The safest way to clean your ears is just to remove visible earwax outside and around your ear canal but never push inside. Your ears are cleaning yourself and if you are one of those people that produce excessive amounts of earwax and suffer from bad hearing as a result you need to visit a doctor anyways.

Teeth

A great smile goes a long way. Unfortunately this is where (potentially) lots of money is needed. If you have crooked or damaged teeth, need braces or other things done there's no other solution than to visit the dentist. Depending on your insurance situation it can cost you anywhere from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands.

  • A basic oral hygiene kit should be: electric tooth brush (electric vs. manual is like porsche 911 vs honda accord), flossing kit (not flossing is a leading cause of bad breath; makes sense if you have rotten pieces of food between your teeth, no?), and a proper mouthwash. I use a product called CB12 as a mouthwash every morning which claims to eliminate bad breath for 12 hours. Haven't used a better product. Even after several meals your breath is still fresh and if not you can buy it as chewing gums or lozenges as well. No bad breath = higher confidence.

  • Teeth whitening products are a tricky thing. The things you buy at the drugstore are either not potent enough or too potent with questionable ingredients. I strongly recommend to bite the bullet, go to a dentist and get it done by a professional. That way you can get the proper procedure for your teeth that will last much longer than your DIY and surely won't damage your enamel. My whitening was about $500 that came with a custom mouthpiece that was molded after my teeth, a custom liquid that was mixed according to my needs etc. I got the whole nine yards and have to repeat this procedure every 3-4 years if there's a need; and significantly cheaper since i could keep my mouthpiece aswell.

  • Brushing teeth twice a day is a must, thrice is recommended. Floss after every meal (flossing boxes are so small and can be carried around if needed) and remember: consuming too much coffee, soft drinks, red wine and cigarettes will turn your teeth yellow and grey. Trust me when I say this is real and it will happen to you if you overdo that shit.

Skin

If you have acne or any other medical skin condition, consult a dermatologist. More often than not you need some heavy hitters like steroid creams, antibiotic cycles and whatnot and I can't help you with that.

  • The most basic skin routine would be: a cleanser and a moisturizer. After showering, use the cleanser, that often comes as foam, to clean your skin and get rid of all the dirt and dead skin cells. Afterwards apply a moisturizer lotion. Be sure to check your skin type (oily, dry, mixed etc.) and buy products accordingly. It's always better go for the products marketed 'ultra-sensitive' or 'sensitive' as they tend to have the least amount of irritating chemicals and usually are perfume free.

What do I use? Virgin Coconut Oil

Luckily, I never had acne but for the longest time my skin was very mediocre and borderline awful. One day it would be dry and felt tense like it would burst any minute. The other day it was oily with my pores being visible from 10 miles away. On top of that I had an eczema (not me in the pic but this is how it looked with red spots and flakey skin)on my nose, cheeks and forehead that would come and go at random intervals. Not enough sleep? Flare up. Stress? Flare up. Forgot to clean my skin for one night? Flare up. Humid weather? Flare up.

Several derms told me this is incurable and can only be controlled and maintained. I tried so many different products and prescriptions. I have spent at least $1.5-$2k on skincare products over the course of 3 years. I got them all: cleansers, moisturizers, vitamin serums, foams, gels, masks, peelings. Luxury products imported from Japan or South Korea, expensive French brands and what have you.

Then I tried virgin coconut oil once and haven't looked back since. This thing literally changed my life when I started using it two years ago. I have the cleanest skin you can imagine now. My eczema is gone, my pores have been invisible ever since, circles under my eyes have been improved so much, I have an even complexion and my skin glows and is almost perfect. Coconut oil feeds your skin vitamins and a quick google search will list you all its benefits.

I kid you not when I tell you that I have been approached several times by both genders that complimented me on my skin and ask what products I use.

Coconut oil melts at body temperature so I put a tsp. in my hand and wait until its liquid then massage it into my washed face (usually after a shower). Apply it to your whole face and let it sit for 2-5 minutes. Then I use a wash cloth with hot water to get it off my skin. I do this every day and even after the first use ever, you'll notice and immediate effect. Your pores will be smaller and your whole skin will be smooth like a baby's bottom. Trust me when I say, this shit's the real deal. My mother has been using it exclusively for the past 25 years and she's pushing 60, yet people mistake her for being in her early 40's because of her flawless skin.

Beard
Be honest with yourself with this one. 9/10 guys have poor beard genetics and don't look like some kind of viking slayer when they grow one out but rather like socially awkward terrorists, hoboes or even worse, creepy pedophiles. If you are one of them, consider shaving entirely or at least rocking a 3 day stubble.

  • Get a proper groomer. I got one from Philips off Amazon that is still their 'current besteller' cost me $18, has a 3 year warranty, several attachments and even a precision and nose hair trimming option. I use it to maintain my stubble. Set your desired length, turn it on and if you do it daily it literally takes 15 seconds. You can always work on the edges and outer lines of your beard with a regular razor to get it super clean.

  • If you want to go for the clean shave avoid that modern Gilette or Wilkinson crap. The blades for those razors not only cost a fortune but they also unnecessarily irritate your skin. Instead go for single blade, double edge razor. It will give you the cleanest shave you ever had and no razor burn. You can get 100 blades for $12 on amazon the safety razor is about $18. Get a proper shaving soap and you are set for life. Our grandfathers knew what was the best.

Other notable things

  • Get a proper nail clipper with a file to keep them short and most importantly clean. Women have an eye for details. I have witnessed it several times when I went to dinner with women and when the waiter brought the drinks I either didn't pay attention at all or would check his watch or haircut and the first thing they noticed was, 'guy should cut/clean his nails'. Same applies for toenails nothing worse than undressing and looking like a hobbit down there.

  • When going for a deodorant, use a roll-on stick. You want to use one with aluminum as this will block your pores and prevent you from sweating. If it doesn't have aluminum in it you will sweat regardless and it will just mask the smell.

  • At least trim your body hair. Not only will trimmed armpits smell less, your lifting progress and muscles will be way more notable if you aren't covered in fur on your chest and stomach. I use the same groomer for my beard and body hair (you can clean the blades and attachments with alcohol if you are weary of hygiene). I trim my body hair to about 0.3inches year round. Every 8-10 days. Takes me about 20 minutes.

  • When it comes to perfumes, less is more. You just have to tried it out in a store to see what smell fits you best. If you travel a lot, I recommend buying it in the duty free shop as it will be much cheaper than regular stores. I still have and use my two bottles that I bought four years ago. It's always a good bet to avoid too musky or too sweet perfumes. Try to find a middle ground.

  • If you have glasses or wear shades, it is paramount to pick the right ones according to your face shape and bone structure. If you pick the wrong frames and size, your face will look goofy and comical. Investing in contacts is always an option as well. I got LASIK eye laser surgery several years ago and this was a real quality of life improvement. Even though I have lost my left eye since then, it's still nice to have the remaining one with a sharp vision ;)

How much time does this shit take?

Morning
Woke up splashed my face with cold water. 5 seconds
Checked my eyebrows. Plucked literally 5 little hairs that regrew with my tweezer. 10 seconds
Trimmed my stubble to appropriate length, shaved edges of my beard on my cheeks. 40 seconds
Flossed, brushed my teeth, used mouthwash 3 minutes

Evening
Shower. 5 minutes
Checked my nails, removed some dirt with a file. 10 seconds
Flossed, brushed my teeth, used mouthwash 3 minutes
Applied coconut oil on my face, let it sit for 2 minutes and washed it off 3 minutes

This 'routine' literally took me 15 fucking minutes to do guys.

It's all about consistency here. Once you got the basics down it's all about maintaining your looks. No magic. Just consistent effort to be the effortless good looking guy

Well anyways, if you made it that far, I hope some of the info was helpful and if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to ask in the comments.
