Because it presents a harsher reality than people are accustomed to or are willing to even consider being possibly accurate.

It is essentially a framework for assimilating all information on its own merits rather than automatically accepting precepts and practices from institutions or people that appear to be legitimate.

It forces you to be critical of your every move as well as those of every single person you interact with (whether its their words you're hearing or reading, the actions you see them make, or the relationships they try to build with you).

In short, it forces accountability. People aren't comfortable with that. At this point, the current generations that are the majority of our population (Boomers, Gen-X, and Millennials) are so accustomed to sucking on the teat of big government and operating under the shadow of its all-seeing eye as a supposedly benevolent father-figure.

Women obviously reject it because it exposes all the flaws of their ideology and behavior: solipsism, favored legal status, favored employment policies, and a guaranteed floor put in place by the government and funded by the garnished wages, alimony, and child support payments taken from the pockets of men. It's to their disadvantage to acknowledge it, so they fight it tooth and nail and do their best to associate it with terminology or imagery that both men and women view as unfavorable ("creepy," "rapey," misogynistic, abusive, and the like).

In short, it encourages men to be independent individuals. The interests at large have learned from history that such a culture is dangerous for those at the top, so today you see the judicial branch, mass media system, legislative branch, and major multinational corporations whose very livelihood depends on you remaining an ignorant participant in their system collude to push things farther in this direction.

The worst is being en route to or a new member of that not-so-informal oligarchy thanks to a healthy dose of good fortune and your own hard work and being torn between raising a loud voice on behalf of the truth (and risking your position) or passively unplugging and operating (largely) behind the scenes á la the Koch brothers, Karl Rove, etc.

When it comes to the general populace, people don't like having their reality jostled. It's uncomfortable and frightening, really. Given the option, people opt to literally pull the hood further over their own eyes because it's more comfortable. That's why the pill analogy from the Matrix films is so perfectly fitting.

As to your point about people agreeing with it when presented in the real world, it's because they're responding to the 55% nonverbal cues. If you're even moderately attractive, reasonable, and articulate, it's hard for a listener not to agree because their memory suffers a deluge of experiences in their own life that corroborate your points. Online, it's very easy to attack an argument because the detractor can take as much time as they want to craft the perfect statement, plus they won't lose out to all the markers a higher-value person exudes.

There are lots of good answers in this thread that I would endorse, but honestly the main one is just pure groupthink.

Most redditors need to have other people do their thinking for them, so when everyone else says "jump" reddit says "how high," and when everyone says "TRPers are rapist misogynist assholes" reddit accepts that without question, too.

Not sure who or where, but somewhere along the way, someone (presumably a butthurt woman or feminist whiteknight) did some reading on TRP, was super offended, and kickstarted the "we must hate TRP at all costs" movement. It caught on, and now that's the mainstream narrative.

Ironically, the manner in which the rest of reddit furiously overstates our awfulness often ends up winning us new members. They hear the horror stories about how we advocate for raping babies and pushing women down the stairs, but they come here and they just find a bunch of men discussing the relations between men and women in a refreshingly honest manner. That gets them thinking, "maybe everyone else is wrong."

People admire charismatic individuals; the "accidental alphas" of the world who are dominant, strong, have high status, etc. Those individuals can manipulate the world around them unconsciously, and nobody minds.

As soon as you start learning those tricks, though, it becomes conscious manipulation. People don't like the idea that they're being consciously manipulated. Bizarrely they're usually completely fine with worshipping charisma when it comes naturally.

The fact is that if you do the conscious manipulation enough it becomes unconscious, and people will simply start thinking you're charismatic without realizing that it was learnt.

I am female, but have undergone much the same journey (via hypnotherapy training), with much the same revulsion from people who found out what kind of amazing skills I was learning.

Because it brings to light an uncomfortable truth, mainly that the world in which most people have built their lives around is not what it seems. People don't want to admit that their view points, their values, and all their work has been based around a set of notions that does not align with way things work.

Additionally, it's the herd mentality at work. How often do we see redpill shit downvoted when it's named, but upvoted when it's packaged as something else? You can get upvotes fairly easily espousing the same general concepts as long as it's worded differently. It's also easy to get upvotes by shitting all over TRP. You could easily find any thread right now about male-female interaction and say "Fuck /r/theredpill" and receive upvotes. It's easy. It's a safe stance to take.

TRP is a set of revolutionary ideas, therefore, just like any set of revolutionaries, we are a minority; a minority that goes against the grain of the status quo.

Everyone who is outside this minority is invested in the status quo even if they are unhappy and it's the very same status quo that keep them unhappy.

The insults directed at red pillers are not meant for red pillers, they are meant to make blue pillers feel good.

Red pillers know it (or should), most women know it (some do out of instinc). Blue pillers tend to value words a lot so they feel good when they hear those things. Red pill tells men to pay attention to actions instead.

Because while some of your opinions may have some truth to them, about 90% of what is said here is garbage. You're opinions are dated and hurt both men and women. You also seem to think women don't work and just sit at home all day planning their divorces. Most women these days work. My boyfriend, for example, would be in financial ruin if we split not because I would be bleeding him dry but because I'm 50% of our income and handle all of our investments. I cook dinner, he washes dishes, I fix the cars, he fixes the computers, I pay for the internet, he pays the electric. Most couples are like this. Just as many women get burned in divorce as men. You can't generalize 50% of the population.

There are tons of arguments and rationalizations.

But there's only one reason people hate-- People hate because they feel their power is threatened in some way. They feel that there's some threat to their ability to protect themselves or to get what they want. Thats the only reason people fight.

So you should ask--how does TRP threaten this person's power? If your power is based on misleading people, then you will hate anything that brings clarity and facts. If your power is based on being a limited resource, then you will hate anything that increases supply. If your power is based on your identity, then anyone who questions that is a threat. If you hold power because you claim to have the exclusive right to define reality, then anyone with an alternative opinion is a threat. And it's not just that the details of their opinion contradict your opinion. It's deeper than that: them thinking they have a right to form their own opinion is a threat to your claim that you alone have the power to define reality.

Threatening someone's power is like threatening their job, their rights, their identity, their value in society, their relationships. It FEELS like a threat to survival (and it was a survival threat, in terms of our evolutionary past).

Even if what you're saying is TRUE, and even if it's an improvement for everyone, you will still feel like a threat because you are trying to rearrange how, and WHO gets power and resources. People who benefit from the current arrangement will fight any change: they don't want to relearn how to get power and resources, and they don't want to lose their superior position. Even if you are just trying to accurately describe the world--this is a kind of power move--you are claiming that your eyes and common sense give you sufficient power to describe the world and say what you think is true. Some people HAVE to fight this--because they lose power if you recognize you have the power to make observations.

That's the point of a lot of the criticisms of TRP. Look closely--a lot of critics are just fucking pissed that men dare to think they have the power to look at the world an say what they see. It's not just whether TRP threatens their worldview. This is important: it's that TRP threatens their claim that they ALONE get to define reality. Think about it--if men DIDN"T have the power to observe and describe their world, who WOULD have that power (social, political, religious, family)? Those are the people who are pissed that guys DARE to make their own observations and draw their own conclusions. They can't even explain it, but they just intuitively feel their power is threatened, just by you not giving them power.

It's the same thing with religion and science. It's not just that science threatens some religious views. It's that science is a threat to the idea that religious authorities are the only ones with the power to say what's true and good. THAT's why some religious folks hate some scientists--they want the exclusive power to say what's true. BTW, that's why some science guys hate some religious guys--how dare they think they have their own power to decide what's true and real.

The point is: everyone needs power to protect ourselves and get what we want. If someone feels you are threatening their power (or the arrangements that give them their power), they will get angry at you and want to fight you. They may give rationalizations and moralizations, which may be more or less honest, but it's all a front for the real issue.

If you want to understand why someone hates you, just ask yourself:

-How do THEY get resources and power?

-Where do they think their superiority and social value comes from?

-And why do they FEEL like i'm threatening that?

It may just be the type of people that frequent Reddit. They read it in their own voice and say, "this sounds like horse shit" because it sounds like horse shit coming from neck beards and fags. Or it could just all be conceited jealousy from women past the wall and devoted betas. Its probably a combination of a lot of things and we're just scratching the surface.
