In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now.

I always wondered if that was an actual realistic goal. I mean, I have a slim stomach and low body fat % but I can maybe do 100 in one session if I wanted to, not more.

Is that in a row or over several sets with rests? I always thought of that American Psycho intro as an ideal bachelor life, minus the murder later on.

How about crunches though? I find those more difficult to do consecutively than situps, and that's what the character said, 1,000 "stomach crunches".

I'm the same, but I never focused much on my abs because they've always shown pretty well from whatever other exercises I do and my basic genetics of low body fat.

I look forward to hot women using my abs to handwash their bras and panties while we're fucking. I'll advertise my services as "Quick Fuck and Undergarment Washing"

[–]NakedAndBehindYou 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

When I was a teenager I got into doing situps and eventually I was doing 1000 a night, in sets of 200. It literally only took me like 3 months to get to that point from nothing.

[–]Hughtub 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[Checks behind me, instantly disbelieves your user name]

I had been doing lots of situps and 2 minute planks, but damn, crunches are pretty hard compared to those. I'm pretty fit, can do sets of 20 pull ups and 40 push ups at a time, but doing 50 crunches in a row gets my abs burning like no person's business, and I'm even complimented with a shirt off!

Its probably better to do a decent bodyweight program instead of curling up in a ball 1000 times. The faq in r/bodyweightfitness is good.

Some of you guys are fucking machines in the morning.

5am - alarm goes off

0500-0510 pure hatred of the morning seeps out

0510 - shamble to kitchen. No light, eyes too full of hate. Somehow get coffee beans from freezer, put pot on

0515 - shamble to bathroom. Piss. Shave with easy electric razor. Grumble. Brush teeth

0520 - drink sweet nectar of the gods

0525 - get clothes on

0530 - finish pot of sweet nectar

0535 - throw pre prepared food in bag. Grab helmet and jacket, ride to work.

0600 - growl at coworkers

0640 - morning checks finished at work, eat brekky with more coffee

Make my bed. Meditate 20 minutes. Eat a hard boiled egg and protein shake. Tell myself I love myself in the mirror, and that I will be productive today. Keep my head up and remember body posture, it will help throughout the day if you set the tone early morning. If I have time, I take a 20 to 30 minute walk in the morning, saying "hi" to everyone I walk past. This is good opportunity to practice staying present... listen to the world around me (birds, traffic, weather) and stay out of my head.

I love to keep lists. I check off meditation (victory #1 each day) and move on to the next item. My lists are often 3 to 5 days in advance. I track my workout routine, weights, number of sets and rep number, too.

This has been my routine for almost 1 year now. My life turned around for the better about 3 years ago, but this last year I believe this routine has really helped make my default state happy. Many of my issues in the past were due to worrying about things out of my control and living in my head, and lots of substance addiction. Setting the tone for the day by staying present in the morning gives me a lot of self control.

[–]eccentricrealist 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How do you make your bed meditate? Haha no but seriously what you do sounds good, it sounds like what motivational speakers tell everybody to do but nobody actually does. How did you start this routine off?

[–]Maaahoney 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Whoops forgot a period.

It's all routine, man. We're creatures of habit. If you really want to make it stick, do a 30 day challenge and commit.

How did I start it is a good question. I cut out a lot of substance abuse, but I still drink often. It took a few months, but now when I wake up I just say to myself I'm just happy to be alive another day. After that, the rest just seems to fall into place. If that sounds silly, force yourself to say it out load every day till it sticks. Heck, I still say out loud "shut the fuck up" when I can't stop thinking or I get anxious. Seems to work well for me.

As for motivational speakers, I can say I'm a fan of Wayne Dyer. He taught me to appreciate what I got, no matter how little it may seem at the time. Everything is relative.

[–]1whatsazipper 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For me, consistency leads to discipline. So start with whatever number of minutes of meditation you know you can do everyday, and then increment as the habit is established. Then you have routine.

It helps if you have developed some experience meditating during the day.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I roll out of bed and stumble into my clothes with my toothbrush sticking out of my mouth

Fuck yo couch nigga

[–]thewheelofza 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Saying "hi" to everyone you walk past is a good one, definitely need to implement this more. I find that many times I get caught up in my head (thinking about what needs to do, problem solving, planning, etc.) and fail to live in the present. Focusing on what's going on here and now is way healthier.

[–]rockumsockumrobots 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's awesome! Do you feel it helps achieve your goals? I would like to give something like that a shot, but I've always felt the preparation in keeping up with something like that is too much maintenance. I think I'd sing a different tune if it kept me on track.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

800 wake up,weigh myself, shit, put on work out clothes, chug 16 fluid ounces, begin preplanned chore that is designed to take 15 minutes.

820 finish chore, prepare blender with green smoothie with only vegetables and flax seed. Pack my preprepared lunch and dinner in my back pack, and wash yesterdays containers

830 begin workout (gym is at my house to save time).

915 finish workout, immediately run blender for one minute. Cool down stretch while drinking breakfast.

940 shave, shower, dress for work that is 2000 feet from my front door

958 leave for work

10 arrive at work

Get home from work by around five, and there is a solid seven hours of time to get shit done.

[–]chill_geddy 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Great question: wake up wash some cold water over my face take thyroid meds/3,omega 3 fish oil caps with some water write for about an hour (which I find to be a great form of meditation in itself) go down to my basement block out as much light as I can throw on some deep house music and jump rope for 20-40 minutes when finished I stop and lay down in the darkness for 5 or 6 minutes go back up to the kitchen turn on the tea kettle take a cold shower for about 10 minutes hop out lights some incenses prepare a power breakfast wash it down with some green tea usually 2 of 3 cups. Now chill_geddy is ready to face the world and whatever it may throw my way when I do this I feel like I can fuck the world slowly and thoroughly

5:30 - Wake up, wash face, read (Usually non fiction in the mornings and fiction in the evenings)

7:00 - Shower, get ready

7:30 - Breakfast (6 Eggs, 2 glasses of water, 2 green teas, cod liver oil + vitamins and zinc)

8:00 Day begins whether it's school or work I'm set for the day and in fairly good shape to get going.

6 eggs every day? I thought I was pushing it a bit with 4 or 5 a day. Depends on how big you are though, around 100kg?

What's your favorite method of eating them? I'm doing batches of 8-10 hardboiled and I eat a few throughout the day.

Just wondering how you prepare them or if you eat them raw.

Gordon Ramsey scrambled eggs are the shit, shame they take too long for me in the morning, but I make them at weekends. With chilli flakes and spinach.

[–]1aguy01 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Minimally cooked sunny-side-up is the best way from a nutritional standpoint. Eat em raw and you don't absorb much of the protein. Cook the yoke too much (i.e. scrambled) and you minimize the nutrients.

[–]NYJets7 27 points28 points29 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Do you like Phil Collins?

No joke though, since watching that movie, I've actually been working out to some of his music recommendations, especially from Huey Lewis and Phil Collins.

Though I try to mix it up with music from motley crue and Rush.

I/m 22 but I think I may have been happier if I lived through the 80's.

0530 - Wake up and hear girl drone on about how awesome I am.

0545 - Get girl to leave.

0600 - Make michelin-star caliber breakfast while analyzing stock trends and make mental list of investment re-allocations.

0602 - Bench press all the weights. Meditate about it.

0615 - Get ready for work by shaving with a bowie knife and washing with saffron-infused lye soap I make every night before bed.

0630 - Put on jet black helmet and look at myself in the mirror. Get turned on a little.

0635 - Start up super-rare motorcycle and cruise to work, being careful not to attract too many women.

0700 - Begin working and impressing coworkers so much that they are too intimidated to even socialize with me.

"my dream journal to improve my lucid dreaming habit"

Thank you. I'll definitely give this a try.

The most fascinating thing to me about my dreams is that I'll dream things that I'm certain I would never actually think consciously. Things that would never really occur to me; yet, there they are, layered in my subconscious.

[–]princenotsocharming 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am not an expert on lucid dreaming but I have read that even slightly activating your motor neurons (moving any body part) can reduce dream recollection by a substantially. So, as soon as you wake up, try to recollect as much as possible without moving and then write down everything in your dream journal before you begin any other activity.

I m currently in a different country and away from home working in unfamiliar conditions so it was hard for me to get settled in but eventually i did. Building a routine does wonders!

Current Plan - Summer edition

06:00 - Wake up. Dot at 6. or max 6:10

06:00-07:00 - Shit, check emails, answer calls and plan for the day

07:00 - Lift.

08:00 - Get back home. liquid nutrition and Shower

09:00- Start commute to lab

09:30 - Start Working

01:00-02:00 - Lunch break

02:00-05:00 - in lab

Depending on workload and intellectual simulation, I either go to the nearest starbucks and work some more or I take time off and have fun

Have fun includes:

  1. make new friends
  2. hang out with my plate
  3. DJ practice session
  4. Meet with new acquaintances and continue building rapport.
  5. Sightseeing

22:00-23:00: Bedtime

Despite being in an unfamiliar terrain and living a bootstrapped existence, I have managed to contribute constructively to my research, stick to my cutting schedule(this was hard as I don't have access to a kitchen), spin a plate and pick on a new hobby(water rafting!).

[–]Sturmgeist781 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you fapping? When does fapping fit into your schedule?

[–]Geocan001 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because I live life around a rotating work roster (day/night shifts) it varies. I have three distinct routines:

Day Shift:

Wake up at roughly 5:30am. Morning shower, shave, etc. Breakfast and coffee for half an hour with no sound in the house. I might even pull out a book and have a read, or review a psych article. My bus arrives at 0630 about a ten minute walk from home, so I treat this as my morning walk.

Night Shift: (I'm using "morning" as a fluid term to mean "when you wake up", here.)

Wake up around 3pm. Dress and walk to the gym to hit the weights. Walk back home and shower, dress for work. Housemate might be about, so it's generally more sociable while eating my dinner. Throw down half an hour of practise on the guitar, make sure my bag is packed and leave for the bus.

NOTE: in both cases, the busses are really inconvenient on the weekends, so instead I ride the motorbike into the city. It's about the only change to the routine, though.

Day off:

Generally wake up whenever I feel like it, get dressed and hit the gym while contacting friends to see who's free. I usually have something light like a banana or a Greek yogurt on the way in, then on the walk back I'll have a protein shake.

I have only recently swallod The Pill myself, so I'm adjusting things in my life to suit a bit more. I'm going to incorporate meditation and stretching in my gym time on days when the gym isn't part of my schedule, especially since I'm about to start a new program which has a day on/ day off cycle.

[–]rockumsockumrobots 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I work grave so it's a little ass backwards for me, but This is usually my routine.

2230 - woken up to my favorite song by In Living Color, it's my entrance song into my daily wrestle with the world (which is more like a performance).

2300 - out of the shower, shave, deodorant crystal (pure sodium chloride). Already preparing, in my mind, what music I'm going to listen to on my way to work. Decide the outfit for the day (standard men's express cotton photographer pants, with fitted shirt) must be a shirt I haven't worn in 2 days and compliment the pants (e.g. dark pants, dark blue shirt, or light pants, light grey shirt.)

2330 - in the car, pair my bluetooth to the stereo and listen to the spotify que I've prepared.

2400 - work through daily routine. Get 1:1 coffee, whole milk or ice water and black coffee (to keep me alert).

0200 - grab some dinner.

0830 - home from work, put on my exercise clothes, pair my bluetooth headphones and play some music to get me motivated.

0900 - breakfast, shower, videogames, check my market positions.

Is it wrong I enjoy my work days just as much as my weekends? It feels like there's more to do in the garbage area I live in when I'm working. Now summer is here so there's the beach, but otherwise it's pretty boring when I'm not doing my daily routine.

Can you describe these exercises?

[–]Agendist 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its William Bates method. This method was developed more than a hundred years ago and its author claimed that through exercises you can restore a perfect eyesight no matter how badly you have it. Lots of problems such as cataract, squint etc can be fixed with this.

Basically you physically exercise your eyes the same way you exercise other muscles every day. If you want to start doing something from it start with palming.

Now a lot of it is pseudo science and doesn't work but some stuff is really effective. Works for me atleast. It requires tonns of discipline and effort because you are supposed to do these exercises several times a day. 99% of people won't have the will to stick to this schedule.

Also Г.А. Шичко promoted this method in Russia for those who know the language.

Bates method looks silly. I improved my vision from 20/40 to 20/15 in a few weeks by doing "pushups" (focus on your finger and slowly move it close to your eyes, then far away) for 50-100 reps, and another one where you hold your finger close to your eyes, focus on it for a second, then focus on something in the distance for a second. 100-200 reps.

I did them once a day, took 5 mins. Did em during cold showers in the morning.

4:30 alarm goes off

4:45 get out of bed after reading for a bit to wake up

4:45 piss and then shower

5:00 brush teeth, shave with razor, put product in hair to style it

5:15 get dressed for work

5:20 put coffee on and grab protein bar and fruit

5:25 make coffee for my wife and I since she wakes up later and doesn't have to leave so goddamn early

5:30 leave for work

6:15 arrive at work

I have no idea how some of you have time to workout or do anything else other than get ready in the morning. Getting up at 4:30 is brutal at times.

[–]rockumsockumrobots 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

brutal at times

How can you do that everyday? That would be brutal for me every day.

[–]1bradyo2 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What time do you go to bed? And what do you do that means you have to start work at 6.15?

[–]Anderfail 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

9/80 schedule have every other friday off. I'm an environmental engineer for an oil and gas company. What time I go to bed depends on the night but sometimes it can be as late as midnight (I can survive on little sleep if I want to).

Alarm set at 4:45am, actually get out of bed at 6:23am, following 3 or 4 consecutive alarms in those two hours. A slow wake up basically. I get up, brush, clean ears, piss, at 6:39am shower done by 7am put on contacts, put on clothes, done by 7:15am put on socks, grab something quick to eat, if time available make your own lunch, then say some prayers before I leave at about 7:21am, put on shoes and leave at 7:26am then I go wait for my bus. This is only when school is on. I'm finished grade 12 in 2 days. Only two days off this routine and I'm never on it again.

Do you feel okay jogging in the morning on an empty stomach, before eating any sort of breakfast?

[–]1iluminatiNYC 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer working out on an empty stomach. That's just me though.

[–]1raceAround126 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually, yes. I pretty much have the same breakfast every day, oats with some form of fruit and on jogging days, I add in either toast or some form of carbs. Some weekend days, I'll have a couple of hard boiled eggs cold in the fridge I can make a sandwich out of.

Weekdays:

05.00

By 06.00 be at the gym

08.00 finish workout

09.00 Show up at campus for either class or work depending on what day it is.

Weekends
Get up around 7-8am, have a light breakfast and go for either a swim or surfing depending on what the waves are like.

I do have a routine. However it follows no specific time regiment. Should I add a time regiment?

  1. Wake up
  2. Wash face with warm water, then cold water
  3. Take 600mg-1g L-Theanine
  4. Relax for 10-20 minutes
  5. Meditate 10-15 minutes (twice a day)
  6. Get a cup of coffee and browse reddit
  7. Cook breakfast and eat it (taken with 500mg Bacopa and Fish Oil [twice a day with meals])
  8. Read the book I'm currently reading
  9. Practice my guitar
  10. Work.

8:30 - Wake up to Alarm, jump as high as I can 10 times

8:35 - Shower

8:45 - Shave, Comb Hair, Brush Teeth

9:00 - Vitamins, Test booster, 3-eggs with sausage

9:20 - Morning Workout (based on "Convict Conditioning", currently level 3)

9:45 - L-sit stretch, Bridge stretch, Cross body twist stretch

9:50 - Roll all joints

10:00 - Put on pants, sip coffee

Protip: only giving yourself 30 minutes to get through all the morning clean-up makes you haul ass out of bed and shower quickly.

Found it through Roosh, I think. The book lays out a bodyweight program for developing amazing strength. You start with very high reps of easy exercises like "wall pushups" and work toward things like one-hand pushups.

I do one set of each of the six movements every morning followed by a stretch routine. The official daily workout happens in the afternoon.

In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

  • 5:00-6:00: gym or bike ride
  • 6:00-6:30: shower, shave
  • 6:30-7:00: breakfast, listen to news/podcast, look at calendar/todo list, and mentally plan day
  • 7:00: leave for work

Alarm goes off at 7:30. Don't get up till 8:25. I might even spend 10 of those minutes ok bed scratching my balls. Change, brush teeth, tidy hair and leave house incredibly groggy at 8:40.

Mornings are thing I really struggle with. Have been putting effort into discovering the cause so far but with limited results.
