The irony is that people who are motivated to "protect women" (specifically) are still very much driven by a form of sexism--that women are weak and need big, strong men to protect them from harm. Still, doing the right thing is still better than not doing it...even if the motivations may be a little tainted.

I can see it all now. Feminists will swarm this story like locusts and say #EndCatCalls and will claim it is like sound rape. Otherwise, if that white knight didn't do anything then the street harassment would have stopped and it would have just became a conversation piece among the ladies.

But because of his intervention, all he got was a hospital bill and still no women. I bet those ladies won't even visit him in the hospital. So basically he got nothing out of it or rather he got fucked out of a so called chivalrous act towards saving the damsels.

I see women complaining all the time about catcalling, but I never hear about them actually getting hurt. Here a guy tries to defend them and ends up in the hospital. I'd rather a person catcall me than punch me so hard in the face I have to pay medical bills.

It isn't men who do this shit like feminists claim, it's assholes. They will harass anyone, catcalling is just how they do it with women. We now see that they're willing to be dicks to men too, but in a more harsher and physical way.

The true lesson here is how disposable men truly are and how much higher women's feels are placed than the safety of men. This guy willingly got sent to the hospital so that some women could be spared some minor insults. The fucked up thing is that the women probably enjoyed the catcalls on some level and were annoyed that this stupid fuck interfered

TRP has gotten into its head that any protective behavior towards women from men has its roots in White Knighting. This is fundamentally incorrect. A man, at his essence, is a strong being, capable in the fundamentals of pursuit, dominance and protection. Most of us, the good ones at least, have an instinct to protect those around us with lesser strength, and sometimes that includes women. We all came from women, we have sisters/wives/daughters, and we have a well-placed instinct to protect them that often has little to do with whether we want to fuck the subject in question. I've seen dudes walking down the street leering at chicks to the point it made me feel like I should say something. How the fuck would you like it if that happened to your sister? So you don't know the broad means you should ignore it? What about the poor guy getting pushed around on the subway by some punks--you don't know him so you ignore it? Fuck that. Step up and do something--that is what courage is all about.

I agree--white knighting is wrong because its motives are disingenuous. But there are those of us, especially in big cities, who have seen some catcalling that is entirely unacceptable in a civilized society. Good on that dude for stepping up--and people here need to learn the difference between being a real man and a dude who ignores evil because he read it on some subreddit.
