This is not why the Red Pill depresses you. The real reason is much simpler than all this:

The Red Pill depresses you because for all your life your expectations have been out of synch with reality. It depresses you because up until now, you've been wasting your time.

You entered the world not knowing the real rules of the game. Without knowledge of the real rules, you could only achieve success by fortunate accident.

All that time you lost, all those life achievements you could have had, all those girls you could have fucked - they were lost to you before you even started. And it's not for lack of trying, but because the real rules were hidden from you.

That's why guys get depressed and pissed off.

Some guys respond by slumping into depression and nihilism. They end up joining with MGTOW or the Men's Rights movement, trying to either ignore the game or working (in futility) to make it play fair with them.

Some guys succumb to the sunk cost fallacy. They figure "well, I've played a Blue Pill strategy up until now, I need to try and make it work, otherwise all that time I spent was for nothing." Their egos refuse to relinquish the time already lost, and they end up wasting more of it trying to protect their egos through self-delusion.

But some guys actually swallow their pride and assume the role of student once more. They read the sidebar. Then they read it again. Then they go out into the world and put what they have learned to practice. They fail, embarrassingly, again and again. And eventually, it clicks.

And then they are free.

These people claim that it doesn't work and that it was just making them depressed and even less satisfied then they used to be before TRP. And thus, return to their old habits.

This is like finding out that Santa Claus doesn't exist and then choosing to believe he does so that you can pretend you will get that trainset you want so badly next Christmas rather than getting a job and going to work.

To those who say TRP doesn't work I say "good luck in your marriage, see you in 10 years when you need advice on how to cope when your cheating wife is taking you to the cleaners".

So if theredpill provides the answers, why do some of our lives feel miserable and even worse after months, even years of digesting and improving ourselves?

Because we have removed the delusion that some people need to get by. "One day my unicorn will arrive" and "One day I'll be happy". Remove that hope and some people get depressed. Some people prefer the pretty delusion to the less pretty truth.

No. The red pill makes you depressed for other reasons. Sure it sucks to realise some harsh truths. But we focus so hard on negative things - negative news, catastrophization, things to watch out for, that we literally train our brain to focus on the negative.

It's called the reticular activation system, and as we focus on a particular thing, that part of our brain filters out input thats not that thing. So we only notice the negatives about women, not the positives. We only see the negatives in the media and society, not the positive. And that can leads us to some pretty sad places. When your ability to enjoy society and half of the human population is diminished life gets a bit shit.

Hence the red pill should be a journey, where you take in the relevant shit, then let go of your anger etc and stop trying to trigger yourself as entertainment. I think the depression stems from something else entirely. If you can't be satisfied with who you are in this moment, no amount of changes will make a difference. Your personality changes, sure, maybe you got that promotion you've been waiting for, maybe your sex life is enhanced now... but that isn't going to magically bring you happiness. It doesn't matter how much your life changes, how much your personality changes, etc., you're still the same being you were before, you still see life through the same eyes using the same mind. Center your awareness on yourself, not on the world around you. You are always the same "I," no matter how much you alter your reaction to external forces, it's always "me" that you wake up and see in the mirror every morning, the exact same "me" that played on the playground as a child. Many men here will not find happiness in The Red Pill because they haven't accepted the man in the mirror and made him number one, instead they're seeking the validation of other Red Pill members and losing themselves in the process. You are not the alpha male, the beta male, funny, handsome, clever, witty, etc., those are just labels, you are the human being in the mirror.

If you want to experience yourself as you truly are, quit thinking for awhile, just focus on the sights and the sounds, let go of everything except the awareness itself without using any language to label it. Then you might actually find some peace in being alive, regardless of your current status or where you're at in your journey. It sounds silly, as another answer said though "you're out of sync with reality." This is a way to become more in sync with reality, more in sync and comfortable with yourself. It's a form of meditation taught by zen practitioners that'll allow you to be more instinctual/intuitive with practice, which'll both make the rest of this journey much simpler and more enjoyable, instead of worrying about the final results you'll be focused on where you are currently.

The problem is that TRP is an open forum where everyone from the newbs to the unsuccessful and depressed can post articles sounding like their professionals giving advice as if they know what they’re talking about when really they’re simply speculating. Other cultures have faced the truth head-on, and made every effort to imstruct their young men in the truth beginning from birth. I have always believed that smoking was good for me. I smoked at least 2 packs a day and, even though I sometimes got out of breath quicker than my non-smoking friends, I was mostly very happy smoking so much. However, one fateful day, I stumbled upon some subreddit that claimed smoking was actually very bad for my health(called TheSmokePill) and I decided to stop smoking. The next day, I spent my lunch break without smoking at all. I did that for a few days and, although I first felt really good about my efforts, I realised that I wasn't as happy as I was when I was smoking. So now, I read and post on a sub called exSmokePill about how I've tried my best and TheSmokePill clearly doesn't work. Oh also they hate cigarette makers and are sociopaths.
