So my female cousin sent me here and told me that my journey would be complete when I could except woman for their flaws and their strengths and still respect them for what they were. So, knowing what woman are, do any of you guys still find anything to respect about them?

I'm literally going to live homeless as of tonight for two weeks until my lease begins because the current place I'm at is full of self-destructive alcoholic drug addicts. I've been working longer hours on purpose just to avoid going back to the shit hole they offered to let me stay for free - which is doing far more harm than help.

There was a thread about this earlier this week. I'll be living in my car, sleeping in my office at work during weeknights(taking on extra responsibilities because I have the time) and sleeping with a plate over the weekends, I know a place I can get full meals for 7 dollars so I'll be eating there for the next 12 days (until I move in). Showering at the gym. And I'm doing laundry right before I leave tonight (last me the 12 days). I'll get some new Calvin Klein briefs at Walmart if things are getting a little chafey.

It's only 12 days, but I can't wait to just sever these ties already. My only regret is not doing this sooner.

You're the fucking man. Follow it through and see your dreams morph into reality.

Good to hear you are getting out of there man. I'll be doing something similar, when I have the money.

Same here man. I lined up a new place to crash at on the couch until I can sign my lease. The place I'm at right now is too destructive and it's like I take 1 step forward and 2 back.

Tomorrow? It will always be tomorrow, until you die. Then they will bury you.

Great post. Culturally, that is our problem. We live as if we will life forever.

How arrogant of us to assume that there will be a tomorrow to do the things in our hearts that we want to do.

The men of the past were faced with death every day in a way we are completely sheltered from in modern society. From spartans to the vikings to the men of the wild west who challenged each other to duels, men were completely aware that they could die that very day. We have lost a healthy fear of death.

IMHO, this is why i think religion is unhealthy. We are taught that we live for ever or will be born a second time. I think it distracts from your actual life.

Religion teaches people to regret the things they do. Instead, the reality is that people more often regret the things they didn't do.

As much as I know religion talk should be kept to a minimum, all I ask is that someone prove the above statement incorrect.

[–]2rp_valiant 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

it's not the fear of death that we need, but the respect for death and the understanding that some day, maybe some day soon, death will take you and you will vanish from the earth. Many cultures weave in an understanding of and respect for death, from the Mexican Dia de Muertos to the Japanese Bon festival. Western culture has made death a taboo to the extent that many people have closed casket funerals to avoid coming face to face with death.

To truly live, we must invite death into our conscious minds. I plan on visiting the Sedlec Ossuary next year to help me relate to this idea. The less sheltered you are from the end the better you can make decisions to improve and impact your life.

[–]Soriq 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely. I'm using "healthy fear" as a synonym for respect, we're saying the same thing. Death is not in our conscious because we are almost completely sheltered to it except for forms of death we see in the media and can consciously process as not truly being real or finite.

[–]PsychedelicBuddha 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes indeed. It is not the fear of death that we have lost, merely the awareness and acceptance of the fact.

Most people I know do not even like discussing growing old and dying. If that stemmed from an awareness that old age/death will come, but hasn't yet, so why talk about it.. that I could understand.

Perhaps I am wrog, but instead it seems to come from denial, fear, avoidance.

I am all up for living healthy and lasting til 110 years of age with decent quality of living. That is not the point. It's just that one day, hopefully a long time from now, death will come to me as it's come to all that has ever lived.

Knowing this is so does at least two things. It makes me strive to live to as closse to an authentic life as I can, and it's taught me to not take time and health for granted.

Especially you young guys out there, this is so important! Your body is your temple, don't ruin it for some short term pleasure. Eat well, rest enough time, exercise, be mindful of what you put into your body.

Time and health are two of the most, if not the most imporant things you have. Money, women, all that? They come, they go.

Time you can never get it back, and ill health will severely compromise what time ou have left. Literally, guard these with your life.

Got a quote a while back from an announcer at the NCAA Wrestling Champs: "There are two pains in this life: the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. Which one do you want?"

This post came at a good time. I have been improving myself for close to 9 months now but haven't approached at all. The reason for this is that I'm half way through my weight loss. I have 47 more lbs to go before I have abs. I've been lifting but without purpose. In 4 months I'm going out of the country for 2 weeks. I'm increasing my lifts for bulk. I'm lowering. My calorie consumptions. This is the last push; the downward slope of my mountain.

I use my weight as an excuse. I'm too fat still. My self esteem is still too low to cold approach. After July I will be ready. I have a timeline. I know I make it seem like I care too much about what other think but I don't. This is about my mentality, my self outlook. Thanks for the post. This and my new Arnold poster will motivate me to finish my goal.

[–]confuseacatlmtd 4 points4 points4 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I would say approach now and get as many rejections out of the way as possible. Why not learn how to be charming and get rid of your anxiety now while you don't have as much of a chance anyways?

By the time you are at your goal weight, and the girls will be happy you approached, you won't blow it from lack of experience.

It's also a good idea to kill your ego and develop abundance as soon as possible. I used to have horrible social anxiety. What it finally took for me to approach a girl at a bar (a month before I found the pill, actually) was a fucking 9 smiling at me while she grabbed her friends tit. I thought, "If I don't do this now, I'll never do it."

I approached and she was into me, hands all over me while she told me she had a boyfriend. I had no idea what to do with that and made an excuse to leave. If realized that if I had had the courage to go up to woman all the times I had wanted to, I would have been able to easily bang that fucking 9. God that's depressing.

Let your ego go. Get rejected, take the pain, grow numb to it. Then when you are attractive enough to the 9s, you will know what you are doing.

[–]Dethklokk 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Surprisingly enough I'm not awkward and can talk to any girl no problem. I'm funny and charming. My problem is that I stop thinking of myself as a sexual being around girls I would fuck. Probably a defensive mechanism to prevent from bruising my ego. Fuck man, you're right. My ego is the monster under my bed. Time to kill that motherfucker.

This is always the way with the Gym. The best time to go is when you don't even want to be there.

The pain you speak of, from my experience is caused by NOT being awake to the fact that we literally exist inside the Matrix. We have to first wake up and become AWARE.

I had to stop talking/speaking and take the position of the observer...like Neo after he took the Red Pill experienced walking around while Morpheus explained what the Matrix was and is. A shift in consciousness is necessary. Without this shift, we try to "manage" things inside the Matrix and are not aware that we are still IN IT and attempting to fit things to suit ourselves. No, the opposite is True....I need to DO nothing....I need to BE in the Matrix and observe. I BE present in the moment as it is and observe. IF/WHEN I want to run a program in the matrix, I develop the program (meditation), write it down (make it real) and then run it (execute/take action). The Matrix will react to the new program. I simply need to let it run and observe. Pain is not present. Suffering is not present.

Fear falls away as I have no emotional attachment to the outcome but merely an observing eye to how the Matrix is reacting to the newly installed program. I do not change the program. Over time it becomes WHAT IS in the Matrix (exercise, meditation, work, living in alignment with my Principles). Fear is removed. Fear does not exist. I AM both IN and OF the Matrix. Calm, at ease. A part of. A spirit aware. Fear does not exist.

From this vantage point, this consciousness, everything you mentioned above that appears as pain and lack and suffering evaporates. From this level of consciousness, I can execute any program in the Matrix at will, provided I follow the rules of the Matrix. Fear leaves. Pain leaves. I return to BEING of my natural state of I AM.

Thank you man ! I always lived my life supporting bad pain and saying to myself that it was how it should be. But no more ! And every such post helps me a little more ! It's like morpheus telling neo to jump. No one will make the jump from first try, still you have to jum to learn

[–]LookThroughRedEyes 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why did you only go to the gym twice last week? Right on.

[–]VivaCheeseWhiz 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I've been hardcore about eating clean lately, one cheat meal a week. I've been taking Krav Maga classes, in addition to a weekend Krav Maga retreat that is a total of 18 training hours from an Israeli instructor where we'll be learning hostage drills and other badass stuff. I'm recovering from the verge of mgtow depression and trying to reverse engineer attraction by at least being in better shape so that I don't have to "chase". My life is still far from the redpill ideal, but the allure of working out multiple times a week has almost completely replaced my love of the cannabis lifestyle. I've started incorporating Kettlebell swings, jump rope, farmer walks, and am working up to handstand push-ups. Thanks for this post, trp has motivated me in ways that mainstream bs has never been able to.

I bet that krav is kicking your ass. Embrace the suck man!

[–]VivaCheeseWhiz 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Definitely. I caught a hell of a haymaker from a scrappy kid half my age the other day. Wearing headgear of course, but it certainly threw me for a loop. It's my favorite part of the week.

[–]Money_Bags97 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Man I want to get back into krav but my gym closed down and moved locations. Agreed, class was definitely the highlight of my week.

Sometimes I'm avoiding pain now to save up the strength required to beat the obstacle in front of me. Great post, just expanding on the idea, not disagreeing. We all need a port in the storm sometimes. It's just that if you attempt to stay there too long you never leave. Or worse yet, you're thrown backwards.

I've been playing fucking Clicker Heroes for 4 hours straight now instead of reading stuff for uni. Thanks for this post, I needed it.

[–]kevkos -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Hmm. I like the general idea of the post, but the title isn't really accurate. Avoiding pain is healthy. Avoiding discomfort is I think what you mean. Quite different.

[–]confuseacatlmtd1 points 11 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

I think pain covers a much broader spectrum, from mental, physical and emotional. As a word, I think it works far better for the point of this post than discomfort. Discomfort is usually used to suggest more of an inconvenience, whereas taking risks or not taking risks very often holds the threat of real and at times extreme pain.

[–]kevkos 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Pain is like, my shoulder hurts. Pushing through that pain could be a bad idea (something I've done).

Discomfort is like, I want to go talk to that girl but I'm much more comfortable over here talking to my buddies. Pushing through that is a positive no matter what the outcome.
