I think this will be difficult to ask to get the right question across. I started a self improvement journey early this year thanks to MRP. My fitness has always been somewhat easy to maintain so I went for career improvement specifically. So far, 1 of 2 endeavors failed. The other was in the works from years ago but I failed to work for it in the right way so it failed too. I found something new now that peaked my interest and have begun to pursue it hard and fast. It is way outside my normal purview and will be physically and mentally challenging for a dude about to turn 34 with a broken back. It will also be a career move that effects the next 10 years of my life and possibly further due to it's dangerous nature. Vague backstory complete.

Question: Is there a point where you set your sights too high for improvement? This job and the skills i will learn seem lofty to me. Sometimes i think the person i see myself becoming is a pipe dream figure that can't be achieved, like delusions of grandeur. It's likely that it if i make it into this job, i will still be the same old me with a few new skills that have transferable limits. How do you find that balance of being who you want to be and the reality of who you will probably be? I assume most answers will be: be what/who you want, or don't over think, or quit being a faggot. Hopefully this makes sense to someone, I am still not sure it's exactly the question I am seeking advice about, but I think it's close enough.
