Belly fat is one of the indicators of insulin resistance. The best way to get rid of it is to keep your sugar levels low for a long periods of time. HIIT helps too but I found achieving the first on a regular basis to be far more effective.

I recommend you to try intermittent fasting. I reduce my calorie intake to zero from 6pm to 12am. This way I would be fasting 18 hours per day, half of it asleep so it’s easy to ignore hunger and it helps sleeping deeper. On morning I drink black coffee or sugar free tea. NO MILK, and avoid abusing artificial sweeteners since they also induce insulin making your road longer.

Make your own fasting system if mine doesn’t suit you. The first days always suck. You could feel cold and nervous, that is a normal body reaction to low sugar levels. Body is protesting. After few days your body will get used to it and it’ll switch to burning fat quicker rather than raising your hunger alarm.

AVOID blood sugar spikes when you start your calorie consumption at 12am. High sugar spikes induces high insulin levels then you are back to square one. Control your calorie intake and avoid sweets. Eat carbs, protein and fat. Low carb diet can help but I don’t do it.

Getting rid of your belly fat means you restored your insulin sensitivity.

You can't target a specific spot of fat. Don't do crunches in hopes of getting rid of belly fat. Your body determines where to store fat, you can only control how much it stores in total.

TL:DR Eat healthy at a calorie deficit.

consume less calories than you burn
shoot for a high protein intake
lift and lift heavy. No less than sets of 10. I like 5-10 rep range for big compound lifts, and 10 rep range for small exercises like bicep curls. Try to maintain performance ( i.e.do your best to keep lifting as heavy). This will have a muscle sparing effect and indirectly burn more fat in the same caloric budget.

If you're skinny fat I'm assuming it means you're untrained. Eat nutritious, healthy food until your stomach is full and lift heavy, you will be able to potentially even gain muscle and lose fat during the early novice phase. Don't worry about getting a ripped six pack until you've got some muscle.

I lost 2.5 inches around my bellybutton in about 2 months cutting out sweets, fast food and eating less and high protein. Light cardio and light lifting. Hit a bit of a plateau now but that’s what worked for me.

Anyone telling you lifting will get ride of belly fat is wrong. Cardio is the only way you can do this. Best bang for your buck is incline walking.

Started recently myself and burn about 1000-1200 per session. Incline at Max, speed 4-6. 60-90 minutes.

Best results, do it in the morning.
