I don't tell girls I'm in software. When I do they don't believe me. If someone asks what I do I'll often say I'm a chimney sweep and change topic. You'd think because you make bank girls would like to hear, but like you said comp sci = nerd.

Not Software Development but Data Science. Honestly, it plays to my advantage slightly, mainly because I probably don’t look like the “stereotypical” nerd (even though I do math problems for fun smh) and it throws people off when they ask.

Women(I would imagine you are interested in young attractive women) view things thru lense of utility and/or status. You tell her your job, she goes how can this be useful to me? at her young age useful falls in having fun, clubs/vip, boats, trips, experiences, drugs/alcohol, etc. Thats why say a club promoter can get more ass than say a square lawyer who doesnt realize he has to be more proactive..

The status anything dealing with computers has gotten in regards to media programming is all unattractive nerdy, antisocial, isolated stereotypes.. You are gonna have to polarize (goodlookingloser touches on this) them with your style, behavior,etc. I would say PUA dam near created all this stuff to tell others this because of the high probability of those behaviors in that field (bless their hearts)

Also having traveled, mostly in america does our identity come soo much in what we do for money so you can stay on that treadmill with pride to work to a bloody pulp, in other places they dont even care. RP also tells you to develop a well rounded life where your identity isnt tied only to that (not saying you but in general).. Guys end up being super lame because thats their whole identity and then they can only lead with their wallet..

Anyway, having high income is for you and use it to invest in yourself and then you will be high value all around. Spend money on upgrading YOU. Your teeth, wardrobe, fitness, lifestyle/hobbies, then include game and you will be a force.

Hmm...I'm in the same thing. Probably don't need to overemphasize it. SE sounds like a great provider career so you could just say you're a "drug dealer" or something rediculous.

Dude, get your head out of the sand. The average Joe knows SWEs make good money. Anyone who doesn't know that isn't worth your time. But no, I wouldn't consider it a turn on. Might help for girls looking to settle down but that's about it.

Raises SMV. Just don't be fat, socially awkward, or a soyboy. If they ask job specifics just say you make apps like Instagram for clients. Use the word apps instead of software. Explain that your like a doctor and designer for apps. Or like an auto mechanic for the Internet.You don't have to go into technical details. The main issues with software developers is that they overanalyze sexual interactions to the nth degree.

Most engineers are losers. It’s a fact. It takes decent brains to be one, and most only have that. Unfortunately they lack major social skills/borderline autistic. Those with social skills will rise to the top. Source: I did not fit in with 95% of my peers in school, in the field it’s a little better.

If you’re high SMV then being a SWE is a plus. Just make sure you’re high SMV and have friends and activities outside of your job.

Anytime someone asks me what I do for a living I lie and tell them I’m a couples sex therapist. Then I tell them what I actually do.
