I'd petition you should read it because Sparknotes won't even scratch the surface (it never does). You've gotta read the dialogue for yourself to get the ideas. It's mostly dialogue anyway. (There's a great hate-fuck scene too).

Although I didn't exactly read it to agree with it, I remember it made me want to work toward great things.

"The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged" both describe her ideal man- and both stories multiple antagonists- each one differs from the non-ideal, sometimes in only one attribute. Her protagonists are uncompromising- they allow themselves to become poor and homeless instead of compromising their values- that man should live for his own sake, and be free from those who seek to control him.

Her writings are red-pill in that her morality is individualism- whereas blue-pill is collectivism (serving others before yourself).

Her philosophy, Objectivism, is fully described in Atlas- once you have read the book, if you want to know exactly what the book is speaking of, read "Introduction to Objectivist Epistimology."

There are audiobook versions. If you are interested in Atlas Shrugged audiobook, the one read by Christopher Hurt is superior.

Her prose can be pretty dense but she's a good author. Feminists probably like her because Dagny Taggart gets to sleep with the three most alpha guys in literature excluding Roark. Really, she criticizes people who consume without producing real value, talks about the virtues of selfishness, and paragons of masculinity and achievement. Read her.

The Fountainhead is decent. Atlas Shrugged is basically the same book, but with no room for misinterpretation. Not really necessary reading unless you're extraordinarily opposed to helping yourself. Neither should take you longer than a weekend to read, though.

Rand herself was basically an RP man with a RP wife in Nathaniel Brandon. Objectivism is a bad attempt at solving the is/ought problem. And before you get too into her, I'd read Murray Rothbard's play "Mozart Was a Red" for an entertaining sendup of the cult of personality that formed around her.

Sparknote is probably just fine. She's not a gifted wordsmith. She has ideas that were strongly influenced by the horrors of Russian communism, and she's strongly anti-government because of that.

Rand isn't a great writer, she violates "show don't tell" often, but she's worth a read.

I haven't read much of her work, but the one I did study in college was solid reasoning. No reason to think any of her other stuff wasn't decent.

The best scene in the book is Howard's soliloquy. It sums up the philosophy and is a dead on recreation from the book.

Ayn may not have been the best writer but she was great at getting an idea across to those willing to hear. She may not have been the best looking either but after reading some of her sex scenes I bet she was a great lay and she for sure knew about caveman sex.
