First of all: I DON'T LIKE IT. BUT SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO DO IT.

If you don't know about tonality yet, look it up. It's important. When we're doing text game our tonality is gone right? WRONG. It's not. Have you ever noticed that you get a different feel for every person you talk to online or through text? The tonality is still there. Compare these two lines:

  • Hi! I was just checking to see if our date is still on tonight? I ran into some problems so I might be a little late! Let's say 7:15 instead? :D

vs

  • I ran into some problems, I'll be able to make it to 7:15 tonight though

It's exaggerated, but do you notice the difference? If you want good tonality through text, you need to be able to skip punctation (even for questions, because it avoids her reading it in a tone that slopes upwards at the end) as much as possible and completely eliminate emoticons if it doesn't fit your style and personality. Keep it as short and as simple as you can.

That's all on text game from me.
