This is EXACTLY what I thought the first time I went to a bar solo. After about 8 times you don't really notice anymore. I actually forgot that I even had that impression until your post reminded me of it. I've only been practicing pick up for 4 months. Also it doesn't hurt that I made some friends that aren't even as close to attractive jocks physically and still K/#/F close at least one girl each night we go out.

It's funny, because I find bar game so much less intimidating because 1. everyone is at a bar and trying to be social (or else they could be at home and drink) and 2. people are drinking so no-one gives a shit. and 3. you probably won't see these people again.

also, what are you doing checking out all the guys? How were the GIRLS????

It can be intimidating at first but as you start having small successes and also keep going repeatedly it stops being intimidating.

I'll be forward with it. Do you think that you're a weakling? I by no means am as strong or fit as the majority of people out at the bar or even in classes. I do, however, feel stronger than my old self. Hit the gym, fix your posture, hold your head high. Most people don't do these things.

It's only intimidating till you realize most of those guys are highly insecure and generaly will not step outside their comfort zone. I don't even worry about prototypical "Shore" guys.

if you don't consider yourself in the top 25% for attractiveness, I don't recommend bars. looks and overall confidence are way more important in a bar situation, where if you meet through social circle or day time activities (or day game) girls might find any quirkiness endearing.

also of course dude, it's a sports bar. most people will be athletic.

edit: by 'attractiveness' i mean your combo of looks and confidence/personality, not just looks alone.
