This post had to be taken down because it appears to be focused on a specific situation or person. While Field Reports deal with specific situations and people, remember that the focus is different:
No worries though! Though the thread has been taken down, any conversations you have started here can still continue, and if you want to PM a mod to get their opinion on this thread, feel free to do so and they will still be able to weigh in.
For next time, remember that posts about a specific situational advice with a specific person are fine as field should be directed to Ask Seddit (/r/askseddit), not to be confused with Ask Reddit.

The chances a guy will approach you at Target, the gym, or a book store are slim. Young men these days are scared for their life a girl will cause a scene and make him look like a creep. There’s a lot of videos online of girls overreacting and making guys look like they are perverts when in reality they just wanted to politely talk to them. This is to give you context of a guys POV of dating and why very little decent men will actually come to you and approach you. Heck, there’s hundreds of videos and discussions on Reddit about approaching because it’s risky and embarrassing for a guy. If a guy does approach you, he probably has a lot more confidence because he sleeps around more than the average guy.
The only way a guy will MAYBE get a hint that you like him is if you glance/make eye contact at him like 4 times. 4 times might seem creepy but men are not good at social cues or reading between the lines or anything like that. We communicate with each other directly, nothing is ever left to interpretation. So if you like a guy give him the ”please make out with me” stare/eyes at least like 4x just to make it mega obvious. You’re probably too shy and that is probably giving the impression that you don’t want anyone to talk to you. Maybe smile more, look around the room more, wear clothes that makes you feel beautiful. Because most shy girls look like they are scared/worried and the last thing a decent guy will want to do is risk scaring a girl in public.
I would continue socializing at the clubs you’re going to. Maybe don’t make it a priority to find a guy. Make it a priority to make girlfriends first that way they can make you feel confortable and happy. Once you’re happy, everything else comes easier. Eventually, your girlfriends will want to go out to clubs or events and you’ll be exposed to more guys that are in their social circle.
If you want my honest advice, join a Salsa Dancing club. It’s perfect, you can learn to dance quickly since you don’t have to lead, it’s fun, it’s exercise and this type of social circles are always finding partners because men and women are actively interacting with each other instead of avoiding each other. This might also give you confidence in yourself and help you be less shy. You’ll talk to more people and you’ll be exposed to more guys that will 100% talk to you even just for one dance or a simple conversation.

Lmao is this true? Or just something guys say online? I’ve approached women in all those scenarios and have gotten nothing but good responses. And I’m no GigaChad imo

yes it's true. a lot of women i've been with have told me that men rarely approach them even though they were hot af. to people like us who actually approach, approaching and talking to women have become "normal", but most other men are deathly afraid of going up to women and even if they do they'll be unable to speak properly because they pedestalize the woman too much.

There’s a difference in how you approach like starting a friendly conversation and talking more if she seems receptive compared to just going up to random women in a Walmart asking if they want to go out with you
A good way to start is just be more social and friendly to everyone you meet. That way it’s not weird

Try smiling and flirting with guys you’re attracted to. Say hello. Be approachable.
[–]zapadz -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You probably come across as unfriendly and not wanting to be approached because of your shyness. If you notice a guy you are interested in try giving an indicator of interest like smiling or waving, or asking them a question or to help you with something. If you look busy or are surrounded by other girls or with a guy, guys are less likely to approach.
Also do not try losing your v card in a hook up. Studies show women regret casual experiences 80 percent of the time. You can also release oxytocin during intimacy which causes you to bond with the person and it’ll be painful if they don’t want you or are bad for you.

You've tried actually walking up to a guy and asking him out?

My advice is probably pretty generic so sorry for that in advance. I suggest you go out and live your life and look for a nice young man. Maybe you'll see someone that frequents the same places you do at a park or coffee shop or the gym. Once you identify this guy get his info and just ask him on an actual date. You may fail many more times but this is how its done. If you need a guy to walk up to you then I'd say hanging out in public by yourself, dressing nice and try to look approachable, smile and what not. Best of luck.

Those clubs are going to be a great starting point; definitely check some out when they become available.

Nah, it may seem so but it’s really not.

Idk if this is good advice or not, but it’s an old trick to ask for help, or just ask any sort of relevant question, play dumb (or not if it’s a legit question/need) and let him kinda start talking while believing he’s being helpful to you. Gives you the opportunity to start a convo. So just try to keep engaging him in convo, if he’s interested, he should see the opportunity you are presenting him with… Guys, and young guys particularly, are also notoriously dumb and might not pick up the signal, in which case, if he hasn’t indicated he’s uninterested, try being direct! ‘Y’know if you wanna try to ask me out sometime, I might actlly say yes’

a lot of guys these days are timid to approach especially in the age of dating apps. so yeah i think it would be good for you to make the first move. if you're literally taking it to the point of getting their IG and they STILL aren't making a move, they probably aren't socially dominant enough to be your type. You shouldn't have to do more than give an eye contact + smile then walk over and start a conversation about literally anything. if he cant pick it up and run it from there, move on to someone more masculine.
hope that helps

[–]Green_Attorney1193 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why my place doesn't have girls like you? 😩. You sound so nice, would have dated you already.
[–]incognito3107 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You need to act friendly, affirm your sexuality and stay open to social life. As a boyfriend and girlfriend you will be doing many things together besides workout in a bed, you need to be compatible with your future plans, time schedules and preferred activities. Even if you don't fancy interacting with people, you can learn how to enjoy your time within a group and make some casual contacts from time to time.
I would say that many guys like shy girls very much, but they don't really like when girl acts like incapacitated. You need to take some part in developing a relation and present yourself like a girlfriend material. Be nice, be open, love your sexuality.

Shy girls always have more trouble finding partners just like shy boys have trouble finding partners.
Unfortunately you are way too needy for a boyfriend.
The more someone wants a boyfriend or a girlfriend, the more off putting someone comes across.
Majority of guys that are attractive won’t even think about a relationship until after sex, never before sex has happened.
There are guys who don’t mind starting a relationship first and then have sex, but those tend to be the more unattractive ones, and it makes sense because they lack options they are willing to sacrifice sex if they will eventually get it.
But guys who are attractive get sex easy with many girls, so they don’t really have a motivation to wait for sex or enter a relationship before sex has happened.
Many guys only decide if they want something serious after sex, never before. It’s like a filter for them, if the sex was good, they might want to repeat, if it was mid or average they never want to see you again.

It doesn’t guarantee anything if you have sex with a guy, but the guys who have tons of girls to choose from (the attractive guys) usually want to have sex before deciding if they want something.
Let me repeat, that having sex with them won’t guarantee a relationship, specially if he feels like you are obsessed with getting a relationship or try to rush things.
The reality is that it’s mostly something you can’t control.

[–]CompetitionFair7686 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Like i said it’s not in your control. You want the definitive trick that will make a guy say i want a relationship.
If you want a relationship so much, you can go for guys who are shy and bad at talking to girls, guys who don’t have many options to choose from and are happy that for once they receive any attention from a girl.
But with guys who are genuinely attractive and good with girls, it really is like a lottery, where in order to participate you have to sleep with them and hope for the best.
The first time you have sex won’t be as special as you might wish.
[–]FlowFields 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
From someone who has dated along the whole spectrum. Those guys the previous commenter was referring to who are "genuinely attractive and good with girls" aren't actually that great of relationship material.
Especially at your age the very attractive, outgoing, and noticeable types are also very selfish, narcissistic, and sometimes misogynistic.
Those who are advising you to lean into clubs and try to make friends with more men (even those who you don't want to date) have it right. If you get to know quality guys who you don't want to date, they may introduce you to their quality guy friends who you do want to date.
Also dating apps suck.

Your got to walk before you can run.
I think 21F is not too old to start It.
And people dont start having a long relationship. They start by experimenting their sexuality in five minutes in heaven - a game my culture doesnt have b- ir in truth or dare, a game my culture has.
All you have to do is be a female. Select a male, look at him. When he notices you looking, smile back. That works on any culture. I have seen it at work among south American natives, at korean dorama novels and at German nightclubs.
Quite often the male is clueless. Time to approach and say hi my name is xx. Do you have a girlfriend?!
Around this time a Black hole appears below you and you are sent to another universe.
Or he understands that a female has selected him. The ancient texts are not exactly clear on this subject, because most females give up when the guy is clueless about the stare smile game.
Take It slow and keep your goals low.
Select, kiss.
Select, kiss, makeout.
Select , kiss, makeout. Discover the guy is fun, smart and treats you like you want to be treated: set up a date.
From now on you are on your way to look for a boyfriend.
Not everyone stops being a virgin with their soulmate. Soulmates may not exist, again , the ancient texts are not clear about this.
But the lucky people learned How to walk before they jump somersault over their first Dick.

Just say hi to the guy you like.
If you like talking with him get him on some kind of chill date. Like coffee or beer and a stroll in a nice park etc.
