You tend to have friends that are similar to you. If you have a female friend who's pining after a guy who's obviously way out of her league, chances are, you prob are doing the same thing.

I remember when i was a 19 year old socially awkward dude who dressed like shit. I have this short fat hispanic female friend. She told me at the time she only date 6 foot tall white dude with blue eyes.

For me at the time, I was into this super hot skinny blond cheerleader type. Looking back, both me and this female friend was pining after people obviously way out of our league. Likes attract likes.

I'm right now much older, better dress, better looking and much more socially intelligent. I also dont pine after a super hot girl but rather a cute one that has more depth, like myself.

I think everyone, women and men, set high standards for who they want to spend the rest of their life with. I also believe that as both mature, the things they are looking for changes.
