You don’t need to cut out sugar to be in shape. If anything, adding such an intense restriction would just make one more prone to binge eating.

I don't think this is the right subreddit for this post but anyway, any food in moderation shouldn't harm your body. I have managed to cut out most sugar in my life over the past 6 months and lost going on 20kgs. It doesn't mean I won't eat sweet things on special occasions though, just won't overindulge or make a habit of it.

I've never been able to get get rid of my belly fat and bum fat, even when I spent 20 years going to the gym. I've just recently started on a keto diet which means cutting carbs and sugar. I'm probably too old to lose the fat now anyway but I'm trying to implement a lifestyle that will hopefully help make me feel, if not look a bit better.

Thanks for the post OP. Clearly others are missing your point here. Sugar is a poison and cutting it out goes far beyond weight loss. It takes stress off of your entire system, including the way your brain and body function.

I've considered going this route and I do generally eat very healthy, but I've still had a tough time cutting out occasional desserts.

I think it's overrated. Drink what you wanna drink, eat what you wanna eat, as long as you hit the gym. I never hesitate to drink coke, eat pizza and the chick I hang around with loves my body, especially my biceps. Chicks don't give a shit about abs. But most of them care that you are big. This is field experience, not some theory.

Yea but being diabetic, its hard to find substantiated evidence as well as medical advice on doing just that. My sleep is especially fucked if im not taking in some kind of insulin and then if im not eating sugar my blood sugar gets too low.

I've also read his book. It sounds very compelling at first, because everything he says makes sense, and he shows evidence of it. But after reading more about the subject you can quickly find many counterexamples and evidence for other theories as well. He is not a scientist, which only hurts his credibility when bashing other theories. My main point is that his book's thesis is only a hypothesis at this point, while he presents it as the ultimate truth. Too much sugar is bad, processed specially, but you can still have good health and eat balanced amounts of it.

At that point, doesn’t your body essentially get allergic to sugar? I know a guy who’s had no sugar for years and he was literally hospitalized once bc he had sugar.

The issue isn’t so much sugar it’s refined carbs and processed sugars. Eating an apple is high in sugar but it’s a healthy sugar that won’t make your blood sugar crash. Having skittles is different than grapes
