If you wanna pick up chicks in the gym, don’t do it in a regular weight lifting gyms. Go to a specialized gym, for example a specific sport gym, people actually socialize there

I mind my business at the gym. I’m there to work.

Out of my friend group, those of us who are there because it's part of our self care, don't want to be hit on at the gym. Those that like male validation whenever they can get it do.
[–]member1465 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
I just assume they're out of my league since they reason they do to the gym is to be able to fuck top tier looking men which I'm not.

Just cause a women lifts or works out doesn't mean she only wants a fit man. I mean if The Rock walks by, me and every woman in the gym will look yes but, woman like a connection, a friend and some that makes us laugh. In the long run.

You left out the part where said "friend" has to be 6'2 male model

No need to be so bitter

He doesn't have to be a male model, but getting fit is a huge plus.

For women height and facial attractiveness is 100 times more important than muscles
[–]xavierthepotato 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Who hurt you? Lol
[–]MedGirlsCucky 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Well how do we become top tier men? For me this girl I hit up I stopped talking to her cause well it didn’t work out and it is what it is. But she was dating this fit guy with like a fuckload of followers. It was definitely an L, I don’t dwell on it, just haha now I want more followers on insta. But what defines a top tier man? I’m a doctor, I work on my dreams everyday.

Looks, height, physique, game
If older, then career starts to be relevant too

Wealthy, charismatic and fit. I've only ever had 2 out of 3

I’ve picked up more girls in the gym than I have anywhere else, and they’re always much higher quality than girls you meet when drink for obvious reasons. Cold approach is the most counter productive, for me anyway. Going consistently and making MINIMAL small talk with attractive girls you see there regularly is really easy to do. After that point you leave it to them. I’ve found some girls stick to the hello/goodbye and others make it really obvious by making loads of eye contact, and hovering near you. Once you’ve identified the later, wait for a suitable opportunity to work in between them on a machine, only when you are both training the same muscle group so there’s no chance of backfire. Then conversation will naturally go beyond small talk at which point you can ask them if they’d like to join you getting a post workout feed later on etc.
[–]throwaway137282929 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
That's all great advice but maybe you can share some stories with us? Would you attribute a bit of your success to your looks? Or was your personality? Do you think it's doable for most guys?
I’ve picked up more girls in the gym than I have anywhere else
This kinda baffled me man ngl. What gym has so many girls? There's only a handful of girls that you can meet at the gym that I go to.
[–]DocSchwarz 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I'm not particularly good looking, I've trained since I was 13 so I am pretty built. I think what it mostly comes down to is that the gym is like my second home, I'm probably way more confident there than anywhere else because I feel so comfortable there, know all the regulars (incl the girls). Plus with most things in life, consistency is key, and going to the gym day in, day out makes it really easy to just say 'Hi, i'm ...., I see you here a lot, what's your name?' Plus I don't do it with the intention of picking up, i'm just chatty and when it happens it happens. And yes, my gym is probably 25% girls which also helps,
[–]throwaway137282929 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ok that I can be on board with. I personally started at a calisthenics park and I can easily say that I'm most confident over there. Tho there's literally no girls go there, I did meet 2 girls last spring break. Unfortunately one was older and the other was too young. The younger one did give me her snap tho. I have been going to the gym for a couple of months and I have no shame in admitting that I don't have the confidence or mindset to approach girls at the gym, plus they're usually older than me.
I guess it just goes to show that some guys are better and more confident at certain aspects and certain places. But the thing is that I don't think every guy can replicate that, so people should be more honest about what works for them before giving advice. Cuz what works for someone like you might not work for someone else.
[–]DocSchwarz 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
spot on dude, but also, don't go to the park, or the gym with the intention of picking up. Go there because you want to go there and better yourself. That's number 1. Going with the number 1 intention of picking up, just like going to a bar with that intention (in my experience) always leads to failure
[–]throwaway137282929 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea exactly. I don't go to gym or anywhere solely to pickup girls. That's just dumb, unless it's a social gathering place ig.
[–]WorkingOnMyself01 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is surprising to me. When my friends and I are at the gym were there to work out and get back to life. I'm there to workout some dude hitting on you at the gym is hitting on everyone at the gym.
[–]DocSchwarz 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
lol
[–]Present_Value_3855 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For me I have headphones on the entire time and might wave quick at familiar faces, but I also have that resting bitch face that says don't bother me. Look for girls giving you the green light. Stretching by you , following you to water fountain. If you notice more than 3 times or so. Go up and just act like you are being friendly, not trying to get her number. Say something like, "it's so good to be back in the gym with out a mask huh". Then ping pong back and forth. Ask if she workouts here alot , if so what's the least crowded days to come? ( then u will know when she wil be back). Be confident with your posture and body language.
[–]kettlebell_workout 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Basically it depends on your social skills.
If you are total beginner and you still want to pick up girls in the gym. Then buy one day pass to the gym which is not the one you are going to. And have fun embarrassing yourself.
If your skillset is good, and you know how to navigate social situations like fish in a water. Then you can pick up girls in your own gym.
[–]throwaway137282929 -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This post is made honestly for discussion purposes. I personally don't wanna try, really. I just wanna see people who have found success at gym to share their experience. And maybe give an explanation of what worked and what didn't.
[–]hse7148 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If you don’t want to try then why even post? If you aren’t going to utilize any of the advice then what’s the point?
[–]throwaway137282929 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Like I said I see guys asking gym questions here all the time. And a lot guys give advice on "how to do it?" but I think there's more it. So the purpose of my post wasn't to get advice. It was to ask guys about their experience and what attributed to their success. I just wanted to deduce what really works and if will it work for everyone. Cuz think about it, on reddit we're all pretty anonymous. A hot here guy can give advice to guys that aren't so attractive on how to do it in the gym without revealing the fact that a lot his success comes from his looks. If guys listen to him then they'll have a false expectation that if they do A,B and C they can get that phat ass girl they have been seeing.
Why do I care since I'm not gonna do it myself? Cuz I guess I'm just curious and have strong desire to figure out the truth.
[–]bubblegummybear 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
As a woman who goes to the gym, you're looking for a very specific type of woman if you think she'd want to interrupt her workout to talk to you. Gym for me is off-limits, go out.
[–]throwaway137282929 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I understand that but a lot guys on this subreddit say that they somehow make it work. Like I wonder if one of them can convince someone like to you to give your number.
[–]bubblegummybear 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Hmm, he'd have to look like Wolf of Wall Street DiCaprio to nail that. Or a young Will Smith. Seriously, if the guy was that hot and I was single, I'd maybe consider giving him my number. But a gym exchange is purely based on looks, so I wouldn't feel that this man is interested in me. He's been watching my ass and that's it.
Yea exactly, that's what I said on my post. This is why I think guys that hot shouldn't try to convince average guys to hit on girls at the gym. Cuz for them it might work but for others it might backfire.
[–]genesiscz 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
Lol this made me really mad. You are talking here about him watching your ass, that he's not really interested and he cares only about your looks while at the same time you write "He'd have to be hot to even consider giving him my number". Like what?
[–]bubblegummybear 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Sorry what can I say?! I specified "maybe". It's just human nature if you see someone that you find attractive. "Hot" is relative. I like Leo.
[–]genesiscz 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because you said you feel being objectified, approached because of looks, which you said like it's a bad thing but you said you do the exact same thing. I just don't understand that.
[–]bubblegummybear 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, if a guy approaches me at the gym I know why. It's because of my body. It's only fair that the interaction will now be based on looks. It's an eye for an eye. So, avoid gym seduction unless you want to be evaluated for your looks.
[–]WorkingOnMyself01 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I agree! I'm shocked by these comments. Maybe it's an age thing? At 20 I'd of been flattered. Now? Gross. You're a bro hitting on any of us with a great ass.
[–]throwaway137282929 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Could be. Maybe I'm not onboard yet cuz I didn't even hit my 20s yet and am still naive ¯_(ツ)_/¯
[–]bubblegummybear -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Young boys are often fixated on sex. And their testicles become their brains. There should be a point where sex isn't the main thought and you can do activities around attractive women without needing to pursue them.
[–]615goat 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I’ve actually had a lot of girls approach ME in the gym. They compliment my outfit, or the way I smell (I have a gym fragrance), or ask me about the exercise I’m doing. Then they give me their number
[–]Artist-in-Residence- 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What is this gym fragrance? I really dislike it when people wear heavy perfume at the gym
[–]throwaway137282929 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Man Idk why u downvoted but the reason girls approach you at the gym can't be just because of your gym fragrance. Wouldn't you attribute that to your looks maybe?
[–]615goat 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m sure that’s the reason but the fragrance is probably what they use as a excuse to talk to me, just to say something to me
[–]rudebwoy100 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If you're heavily into fitness and you also like women who are the same then why not approach the women at your gym that you fancy? As long as you aren't creepy and learn to take no for an answer without making things awkward there's no issue imo.
[–]WorkingOnMyself01 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because 9/10 women don't want some dude making the gun awkward.
[–]hse7148 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s only awkward if you don’t know how to talk to women.
[–]ObjectSpirited494 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Alot of gym girls have an extra attitude because they have a good body and they know it
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
And we can’t get through a workout without some dude running over to give us an unsolicited “spot” while squatting 🙄
[–]Present_Value_3855 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That's why must have blue tooth head phones. Not the ear buds but the ones like ear muffs... Like don't even come talk to me.
[–]WorkingOnMyself01 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's sad that's our reality. It is.
Lmao you're being downvoted because men what to convince themselves the opinions women here are sharing are wrong.
[–]hse7148 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, they don’t speak for all women lol. A couple chicks on Reddit don’t discount all the experiences dudes have successfully talking to women at the gym.
Man, all girls who have a nice body, knows that they have a nice body.
[–]hse7148 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ultimately, you shouldn’t go to the gym with the intention being talking to and picking up chicks. You should be going to the gym to improve yourself. However, I’m also not a believer in scheduling time in your day for explicitly talking to women. In other words, I believe you should integrate talking to women into your day to day life, instead of going to the mall, or a club, to talk to chicks. You see a cute girl at the grocery store, talk to her. You see a baddie at the gym, talk to her. Obviously all the rules of socializing still apply here. If she clearly isn’t interested, move on, don’t persist. If she clearly doesn’t have time to talk (more so at the gym), don’t interrupt her mid set to talk lol. But I don’t think it makes sense to assuming that a girl doesn’t want to talk to you. Maybe she doesn’t, in which case you disengage pretty quickly, but you’ll never know if you don’t try. Who knows how many potential relationships and experiences you miss out on just because you assume they don’t want to talk to you.
[–]throwaway137282929 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Everything you said is true. After all, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. But I guess considering your shooting skill and what you are shooting, doesn't hurt either. If it's outside of the gym then I would say yea, go to talk to the girl you find attractive. If she isn't interested, no big deal. You might never see her again anyway. But at gym you might make it really awkward if it goes wrong and each time you see her again it might be uncomfortable for both of you. But hey, if you can live with that then you do you.
My point really was that there's a lot of variables involved that people don't share when giving advice on a topic like this.
[–]hse7148 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree, there’s certainly a little bit more caution and nuance required when approaching at the gym. I always say when this when the topic comes up; the gym isn’t a great place to start practicing your game. You should be a fair bit confident in your ability to talk to em before you consider approaching at the gym. More so, be confident in your ability to take and shrug off rejection. If you can properly handle a rejection, then there shouldn’t really be any awkwardness after the fact. The problem is when you say or do some dumb shit when she rejects you. That’s when they awkward eye contacts and social distancing start to come into play lol. If you play it cool and keep it friendly, you’ll be golden.
[–]liquidbonerjuice 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"i go there to work" the best chance you have at socializing and getting to know people is where you are the most. work, the gym, your favorite restaurant, the fucking moon. you won't ruin your fav place just bc you ask somebody out or find them attractive. i'm writing this at the gym with a girl that left me on read after shooting my shot right next to me. it's not awkward, shes just like every other girl at the gym. but i guess if you are bothered by rejection at the gym then don't do it. but if you count every place you go to regularly, your options are limited. i've gotten rejected by 3/3 i've talked to at the gym. i'm batting a .000, but i damn well will do it again.

They lift lighter weights than us dudes but they concentrate on form and technique and ensure they get that right.
