Seriously this. Your mannerisms change when you stop trying so hard. Suddenly girls see this calm and relaxed dude instead of the awkward guy with poor social skills. They like that.

Totally can support this. I've had female friends all my life growing up and it gave me the perspective to see them as just regular people. I've met so many other girls through hanging out with them, because I was their cute guy friend. Also I'm the guy they bang when their boyfriend breaks up with them, so thats nice too.

All in all having lots of female friends pays off in both the short term and the long term.

This got the wheel going for me OP.

I worked at this massive summer camp for two months this summer. There were 200 counselors, with a 2:1 girl:guy ratio. I was pretty awkward around larger numbers of girls before then, and realized at the start of my job that this experience can change me.

I didn't have the balls to ask anyone out (nor did I want to, the job was fun). I learned how to open up and get used to talking to large groups of girls. For breaks it wasn't uncommon to hang with two to five girls alone, and I've never felt more comfortable. I did learn to pick apart/ distinguish lust, which was what made things weird when talking to girls in in the first place. I was then able to find true attraction to a girl's character and personality. There were a few girls I felt I caught real feelings for, and I eventually told a few of them on the last day.

I gained the competency and confidence to game because of my desensitization of being around women all the time, and I just saw them as people I love to hang/ work with.

Tl;dr Worked with tons of female coworkers. Many platonic relationships emerged. Gave me the social competency and confidence to make a move.

Or...confront your fear by taking action. The anxiety that's associated with the approach is never going to go away. You just learn to approach despite it. Don't give yourself an excuse. Approach. Just do it.
