As always, it depends. Looks, status, wealth, lifestyle, confidence, vibe, style, attitude all play a part. A 45 year old who is killing it in most of those categories is still going to get the 20 year old pussy wet.

It's a complex topic because there are a lot of variables that affect attraction especially female to male attraction. In general, women are attracted to men who are roughly 3 to 6 years older than they are. There are anthropological and sociological literature that confirm this trend across culture and time (meaning that this is fairly standard for all human populations).

I know you said not to mention anything about money or jobs, but women do make a correlation with age and with those 2 subjects no matter how independent they may be. It just happens that when a woman sees a man that is older than her there is a fairly good probability the man will be in further down the money and career path than the woman is. Obviously this is just a trend and there are a lot of outliers, but outliers don't disprove the trend.

As far as people claiming that an older man dating a younger woman is disgusting, you have to carefully see who throws out those judgements. In a group setting females will most likely express views that the majority of the group espouses. Furthermore, a lot of the people who are claiming that a significant age gap is disgusting quite frankly are women themselves. And your example of a 30 year old dating a 20 year old is not that bad. I've personally been with 2 women with a 9 year and a 11 year gap before. Do other women talk bad about me? I'm pretty sure they do, but who gives a fuck about those women.

There's a bunch of studies on this. Read "The Evolution of Desire" as this book goes through the findings exactly on this topic.

There's considerable interpersonal differences between women in what age men they prefer. But if you're asking about what women prefer on average - here's what they find:

In poorer countries, women tend to prefer older men that are older by about 5-20 years older than themselves.
In richer / more developed countries, women prefer men who are about 0-5 years older than themselves.

So yeah, women, on average, prefer older men. But not by a lot. It's very rare for a woman that's 20 to prefer to date a guy that's 40. It happens, but it's not the norm. Especially not if it's a richer country. The fact that it's different between rich and poor countries also tells you that it probably has a lot to do with money. Women might assume an older guy has more money even if it's not the case.

Yes. It’s settled already. But don’t be an average older man, you need to be as hot and succesful as possible and they will like you way more than the younger guys.

Exceptions apply but generally that’s it.

I never had so many girls since I turned 30. It’s pretty crazy.

Yes, younger women like older men because older men at least in theory accumulated resources and women like access to resources. So if the older man has not fallen apart by the time he has those resources he is going to clean up. Those men dont even have to tell they have resources - it is visible in their behavior. Women are very much in tune with figuring it out

Want to have long term success dating/fucking/whatever with women? Get your coping ass into a position where you have resources and you dont look like Homer Simpson. This mean stop beating your meat stick, stop wasting your time on video games and stop wasting trying to learn techniques of "seducing" women when you cant afford to spend extra $50 in a cafe with her without it compromising your finances. Your goal should be making $$$$$$$. Not making $. Making $$$$$$$. Or dont. In which case older men will keep taking the women you are pining for away from you.

As far as I can tell, the average woman likes a guy close to her age or slightly older. It gets a bit murky because age is usually tied up with status. We've all noticed that in school, the girls went after college guys or the guys with cars.

With bigger age gaps I think it varies more from one woman to the next. But there are plenty of young girls that will consider guys 10+ years older, and I'm not just talking about gold diggers. There are also plenty of girls that would never consider that type of age gap.
