A direct opener doesn't build attraction at all.

It only capitalizes on attraction that is already there.

That means either she noticed something about you before you approached or when you approached, how you speak, how you look, how you carry yourself, etc caused her to feel attraction for you.

If you wanna test this, only do a direct approach on women who either glance at you multiple times or women who hold eye contact with you for more than 3 seconds. Her smiling is not required.

Then only do a direct approach on women who don't look at you at all and see the difference.

I don't agree because I think if the girls aren't very interested at first I can still use humor during conversations to build attraction.

As for this, I agree and disagree.

You can certainly build her attraction for you as you interact with her more but humor is only one tool to achieve that, and it should generally be dignified humor as well, not humor that makes you look like a fool.

Other than that, flirting (it's probably not what you think, ask me and I'll explain), interacting with her in a way that gets her enjoying doing things for you and showing off things about herself to you, and having great interactions with others in front of her also builds more attraction.

As a daygame cold approach coach, I can tell you that no. It doesn’t build any instant attraction to give her any compliment, but specially when the compliment is also so generic.

Attraction isn’t built by congratulating her for having good looks or in this case noticing that she has good looks, “Hey you are cute” just makes her think “Yes i know”.

What your friend is assuming is that you have to be her type right away and that being her type is enough to escalate all the way to sex no matter what you do or say after that, which of course isn’t true at all.

And the reason he doesn’t know is because he is not self-aware enough that when he had any success, it was because he said or did the right things by pure chance or instinct, not because he could have said or do any other thing that wouldn’t be right and she would still have accepted to have sex or pursue something romantic.

So his argument is basically another way t9 say the usual “just be yourself” useless advice that only works for those who have the natural talent to do things right and smoothly ignoring the fact that not everyone has that natural talent or the capacity to be themselves due to being anxious, nervous, and incompetent when asking to girls.

Women also still have objections, they don’t know you, they don’t know if they should trust you, they don’t know whether to categorise you as friends, hook up, or boyfriend material until they get to know you more.

They also don’t have enough of a reason to want to see you again some other day just because you tell them that you are aware that they are cute.

This is why you see people who approach hundreds and hundreds of women and never get laid. It’s because they don’t actually know what the interaction needs for a woman to be interested in seeing you again and wanting one thing sexual or romantic.

It’s not due to lack of initial interest, it’s due to lack of creating the emotional investment and trust that she needs which happens during the conversation after the opener.

So the answer is no, your friend is wrong about this. and the evidence is the people who get tons of numbers from hundreds of thousands of approaches and never get laid.

It just ruins the game (which some people including me hate) and it forces the decision to be made at that moment (“Am I interested in this man” - is the question)

The cold opener with direct approach only works if you meet rule #1 (Be attractive) and rule #2 (don't be unattractive). You'd better have demonstrated solid social value in the space you're working in, and she has to have seen you and paid attention up to that point.

Walking up out of nowhere with zero social proof is a recipe for failure unless you're a 10, in which case you don't need these methods.

Better to work the room, be sociable with everyone, be friendly and affable, confident, and demonstrate that everyone is comfortable talking to you.

Once you'll have a much better success rate.

Building attraction is a terrible mindset to have even though it's possible.

You should never assume your non sexual traits will turn into sexual attraction. They're completely separate entities.

Unless your like 6 4 and super jacked you rarely NEED to build comfort and show your humorous side.

Better to use indirect or situational in daygame and a neutral or situational opener in nightgame. Learn how to transition out of and flirt after the opener. Direct is an old relic of the "natural game" days that only works in very short interactions.
