Pickup is an endless journey of finding ways to make yourself more attractive as a man and getting women as a byproduct of that.

General points:

Work on self-development. This is MAJOR in becoming an attractive man. Lift weights, eat nutrient-dense and diverse foods, meditate, read, have hobbies that make you happy, do better at your job, groom yourself, wear cool clothes. Do all this WHILE also going out to meet girls, don't wait on meeting girls, because the best way to become good at talking to girls is by talking to girls and learning from your experience. This communicates that you value yourself and it is a key in developing self-esteem.
The more emotions a girl feels around you and the more time she spends with you, the more likely it is she'll want to sleep with you.
Everything is cultivated: all the mindsets, qualities, skills, and knowledge required to become good at this is acquired over time, so don't stress if you're not pulling cuties every night.

Your inner game is how you feel about yourself and your abilities (this is confidence). You outer game is your actual skills with girls (what you say, do, and show through your actions). You should work on both.

Inner game:

I am enough. Simply by being a man, you're enough to talk to a woman because we're built to connect women, just as women are built to connect to men.
I offer value just by being myself.

Outer game:

You show that you're a man who likes her (man-to-woman frame): look her in the eyes with calm, direct eye contact. Your voice is slow, low, loud, and goes down in pitch at the end of your sentences. Your body language shows that you're cool as a cucumber. And you freely touch her in a normal way.
Spend time with the girl, use shifting emotions, and be empathetic to her emotions.
Open. Find a girl, get her attention "Excuse me, hi," introduce yourself, and commit 100%. Smiling is important here.
Keep talking until you reach the social hookpoint where she looks relaxed and wants you to stay there to keep talking with her.
Create attraction by using emotional language (positive expressions, negative expressions) and then returning to a normal conversation.
She'll test you to find out if you're as cool as you seem. Recognize when she's testing you, and pass by being unreactive (not freaking out). As a bonus you can throw in a joke or something witty.
Lead the interaction. During the daytime you can bring her for coffee, at nighttime you can bring her to the bar or around the venue.
Use physical expression, but maintain sexual tension (don't be the makeout guy in the corner)
Close: go for the instadate and pull or for her number in daygame, and get lots of numbers and pull in nightgame.

Textgame

Structure: Value, value, value, shoot for the meetup, calibrate after, repeat.

Value can be funny pictures, call-back humor to what you talked about together, or anything interesting you want to share.

How to make game (and learning it) easier:

Imagine a bowerbird, there comes a time in their life where they feel the need for female companion. The simplest and non-jargon answer to your question is this. The basic idea of pick up is to learn how to act, how to feel and to a certain extent what to say to women in order to present yourself as not a hopeless loser or freak.

If all you learn is how to be confident and comfortable with yourself and not reliant on the other person's response to feel good, you're already miles ahead of the average Joe.

Everything else like learning to escalate or kino or logistics are really just mechanical extras to the basic idea of socialising romantically.
