A while ago, I was at a friend’s 21st, there was plenty of people I knew, and some I didn’t. We were drinking and it was great fun. However, it ended with me despising two good friends of mine.

This blonde Swedish exchange girl was at the party, I’d known her in passing, friends of friends. I’m not the greatest guy out, but I am reasonably confident when it comes to women and am not above stringing up a conversation. But I was nervous when I first started to speak to her, this Swedish girl was draw-the-gaze-of-passing-guys level hot, with a very light blonde hair which I dig. Anyway, despite my reservations, a few drinks later and we were getting along fine.

It was going very well, we even danced, friendly at first, then suggestively. I was putting my hands on her as we moved to the music and it was going awesome. I was deliriously happy about how well it was going.

But then, of course, the cock blocking. So mate A has a girlfriend and has had a fair few drinks by this point, but mate B, and the one who I went to the party with, is only a little drunk, and still in control. Mate B is also horrible with women in a romantic sense, he has no problem talking to girls, yet he seems to go about it in the worst ways. Anyhow, they came to the conclusion that they didn’t want me to be with this Swedish girl, and chose to ruin my once in a life time chance. So they start dancing in front of me, pushing themselves between me and her deliberately. When I was sitting down and talking to the girl, they’d bring up my past girlfriends. This repeated again and again.

They got worse and I told them to stop, but they found it funny, and infuriatingly mate B said “you jelly” over and over. I was so angry, he didn’t even understand what jelly meant! I was mad! And I think he was being a terrible friend, and I told him as much. But he didn’t care, and they both continued. I’d got only a few moments with the girl after that, and she seemed to want to speak to me too, but the boys kept jumping in the way.

Then it got serious, while I was fuming out on the porch they went and told her that I wanted to do ‘things’ to her. I have no idea what it was they said, but she stayed away from me until the end of the night. In the last few words I got to say to her before she left I cleared up that they were being stupid, she smiled, but I could tell I had been firmly removed as a romantic interest.

In the taxi home, I was so angry, mate B rode with me, and continued to laugh and say “you jelly”. Up to this point he’d been a good mate who I’d helped with many problems, I’d have called him a close friend, but I yelled and almost started a fight over this. But he just didn’t care. The next day people sympathised with me, but Mate B and A didn’t understand they’d done anything wrong. Even when I explained what they did and how it was really cruel, they seemed to brush it off like it was nothing. I’m still angry at them, and it’s been 5 months.
