Basically looking into an eye and trying to see your reflection. It creates a deeper gaze because of where your focus is. Obviously you don't want to glare or stare at them for five minutes, but it's just a small thing you can do to show that you're deeply interested in listening to what she has to say.

One of my old friends always used to tell me to let them know when I got home. It's endearing. It shows that you're concerned about their safety and you want the reassurance that they're okay. This applies to everything. Accidents, car trouble, whatever. Whether it's walking, biking, public transport. I mean it when I say it because I want to know they're safe. Different strokes maybe!
