I used to think this shit was total bullshit...

Then I became a hiring manager. The interview is VERY much a seduction routine. I felt like confidence was king, and luckily, a committee of us vetted the candidates so that we didn't do something stupid like hire an overly confident idiot.

Being confident, well dressed, prepared and relaxed makes a huge difference. As someone who is quite successful with job interviews, I can say that most of my rejections come from factors out of my control (i.e. specific candidate qualifications or a really poor interviewer - yes they do exist) and not because of a poor interview.

Yes. I have the job page open in another window right this moment. A guy at my job site got recruited by our competitor, but the bastard didn't mention it until the job was closed, they were hiring several new people. I guess he didn't want any competition. Hey they have some full time openings online, the same job I've been trying to get into at my current gig. Online application, oh now I know what I'm doing this weekend. If I get an interview, I always make a good impression.
