I was reading about framing and it reminded me of an incident from a year ago:

I got a call from an ex-girlfriend, one with whom I hadn't spoken for two years. It went something like this:

Her: I don't have anyone with whom to go to the gym. Want to go?
Me: Nah, I already went yesterday and I need to rest. How about you come over and we watch a movie?
Her: I'd kind of like to do something more active tonight... Want to go out for drinks?
Me: No. Thanks. I was thinking about staying in with some wine and a movie. Call me if you change your mind.

She called me half an hour later, agreed, came over, etc. I even had her out of the house by midnight - a real treat!

I didn't even know what framing meant. All I knew is that her call out of nowhere meant that she wanted to get filled. Even if it wasn't 100% true, I was convinced that it was the truth.

Next time you go out, think about frame. Did you select the frame or did she? How about you decide the narrative and let her play a part in the story you select?
