W/o examples it is hard to tell but my guess is the things that you are doing to make them laugh.For example: Self-deprecating humor generally is not a pussy wetter.

You need to be confident with it, bordering on arrogant-- but always playful. It has to be rooted in true confidence and playfulness.

Also, tease them a little. Make an innuendo here and there-- let them know you find them sexy. If you treat a girl as a friend, they will see you as a friend, and not as a possible boyfriend.

First thing, seduction isn't comedy. If you want to entertain, all good and well. But that's not facilitating connection.... Not even the superficial kind of connection you might want if it's a fling, let alone anything more.

Two different subjects here.

You ought to make adjustments and stop focusing on being "funny." Unless it's natural for you. Then obviously go ahead.
The issue isn't humor. Or some need to be sexy funny or whatever. The issue is that you're not escalating. Anytime you're coming off too friendly, you're not physically escalating.

Extra note: this feedback from your friends doesn't mean much unless you really aren't getting anywhere with the girls you're after.

My gf loves it when I start to riff on something silly she just said. Taking her totally outrageous situation and play it off like it's normal, and find other funny things in that space. Not only does she get a laugh, but she also feels funny, so it's a double win.
You can also try getting a little more adult with your humor, but i suggest staying away from vulgarity.

The best I can do is say 5 things:

You can mention how attractive they are. That instantly communicates you're flirting and puts you in the non-friendly category.

"So, what's a lovely girl like you doing in a shithole bar like this?" Okay, not a great line, can't think of a good one, but the point is to say they're attractive.

Touch: the biggest way to indicate you're interested or at least a sexual being is with touch. Girls already know this more than men and will make "accidental" touch with men they like (e.g. bicep grab). You as a man can't do the same and have to do "safe" touching with a girl you don't know... so if I need to emphasize a point, I'll touch the girl on the arm very lightly. Or to congratulate, a pat on the shoulder or upper back. High fives are good too, as an ultra safe touch. Anywhere else is further down the road. Another great method is to somehow touch a girls hand accidentally. Find an excuse to tell her to sit next to you and look at something on her phone (e.g. you're talking about tinder and you're talking about funny convos... ), then partially or fully touch/hold her hand while looking at the screen.
Eye contact. Honestly, you could flirt with eyes alone.
Teasing. Works well unless the girl has a poor self-image.
