What's up Seddit?

I like to see myself as a laid-back,calm personality. I treat people with respect and therefore my reputation fits as such as a 'really nice guy'. Great personality, leads to knowing a lot of people on campus, good amount of friends and getting along with everyone. My problems although i've made strides towards is being more assertive, taking more risks, and so on.

Problem is, with girls I feel as if I'm 'too nice'. I've been seeing this girl since the beginning of the semester, we went on a couple outings over these past few months and ultimately she said: "she did not want to lead me on, but she can't honestly see our relationship as more than a friendship. I am fine with being friends but please don't wait for me to change my mind about dating. Sorry."

No surprise there.

I know what went wrong, I didn't establish a physical connection, didn't flirt with her- I attributed that to her shyness but really I was afraid of going through with it. We connected really well in conversation and emotionally, yet I think my problem lies I became too much of her 'friend' that she felt comfortable with that.

I learned a lot from this experience, she's the first girl I've dated- gained a nice amount of confidence, a new female friend- benefits along with that, and I see what I have to work on. Bonuses, started a new vegetarian diet to get healthier, hitting up the gym, taking up reading books like 'The Game', and overall I feel a lot more confident than a few months ago.

So Seddit, I ask this question. Where did I go wrong here? How do I become 'less of a nice guy' with girls? Should I show 'flashes' of my great personality or continue on the same track? By continuing the same track, should I try to incorporate flirting and kino with future girls? What are some good ways to initiate that? I got some good practice, learned a lot of things, and I'm looking to improve my game. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I love the wealth of information here! Hope it helps everyone with a similar problem!

EDIT: Actually see her as more of a friend now outside of the moment! Guess I got caught on how great of a personality she has, but I didn't feel that attraction towards her 'that way'.
