I think the stuff I've read here is a bit much. If she's saying that she's got a boyfriend then she's usually either got a boyfriend or she's not into you. I'd ask her what her boyfriend's name is and see if she stutters. If she answers quickly and confidently then ask her if she's happy. If she is then I'll leave. Why would any of you want to ruin something if she's happy? If she stumbles or is like "ermmm we're going through some things at the moment" then it's on.

The PUA world is full of stories of guys who slept with women who said they had boyfriends and later on, they admitted they didn't really have boyfriends at all. Sometimes it's just a shit test, they want to see if you're easily discouraged. Assume they don't have a boyfriend unless you see proof. I don't even believe her if the alleged boyfriend is standing right there next to her. Plenty of guys will play along as the fake boyfriend just to be a cockblocker. Ask them how they met. She'll make up a story, he won't have the details to confirm. If they keep playing say, "oh you two are so cute, now kiss!" Watch her reaction, it's a dead giveaway.

The replies in here are great, but the community response (down votes) is bullshit. The ideas being thrown out are for testing how serious she is about her SO, and gauging interest.

I read a great line for this one time where you ask the girl how long she's been with the guy. If it's something short like several months, you grab her number and say, "I'll call you in 2 months, if you're still with this guy I'll never call again."

I've tried it with a girl who told me she was in a relationship for a little over a year. She was genuinely flattered but I got nothing out of the transaction other than a hug and a kiss on the back of my hand.
