I call it "The Off Season".

IME, from the first week after Holloween to the week after Valentines Day is when people are hyper focused on family and commitment. They want a family to be around for Thanskgiving, they want a gift for X-mas, the want a kiss for New Years, and they want a date for V-Day. While this can also be seen an ideal time to get out there and make connections, what I've found is that people tend to seek more commitment focused engagements. Most people don't want to go to dinner with this family for turkey, and then open gifts with that person, only to turn around and go out with that person a week later and count down the year, all just so you can find someone new to spend V-day with.

So people focus on that one person and try to hold on to them or that relationship, and once the holidays pass and the sun comes out, decide whether or not to maintain and more often than not decide they want to go be free for Spring Break, get back in the gym for that summer bod, and resume that free lifestyle.

Don't worry. Another week or two and it'll be hunting season again.

I don’t believe in seasonality, but I def believe in momentum. Slow periods, followed by a little more activity, then you gain momentum where you’re flooded with options, and then it slows back down.

Experienced this particularly with online dating.

Definitely. Just logistically people are much less likely to want to go out when it's dark and cold. It's also a time where people are traveling for family holidays, wrapping up end of the year projects etc.

September-February is Cuffing Season, where women are looking for a soft, comfortable and secure beta male to cuddle by the fire place, and bring home, as “the boyfriend”, for family Christmas dinner with the parents.

March-August is the Playoff Season for sluts, where women will break up with their boyfriends/husbands, or just straight up cheat on them behind their backs, with the bad boys aka “alphas”. If, however the branch swing attempt with the dummer from the rock band, Hell’s Angel, Hot Drug Dealer, Guy from the party, etc, she will come crawling back empty handed to her boyfriend/husband for another cuffing season. This is why they call August and September the month of heart break. It is when women say goodbye to the boys of summer.

Women follow menstrual cycles, where when they are ovulating, they are WAYYY hornier and seek alphas, and in luteal phase, they cling to betas. But they also follow seasonal phases in their mating behaviour, where the summer nights and beautiful weather, lead to more opportunities to party and create fond memories with the bad boys that they hold in their hearts forever. Theres a guy every girl remembers and has fond memories of their time spent those summer nights, with the alphas of her past (the man who left the most dominant and deepest emotional impact on her). Ten to one if you’re a boyfriend or husband, you’re just not that guy

We call it cuffing season for a reason! This is the cold slow months so people are looking for a short term partner, hence the "cuffed" up nature of this time of the year
