Eye movement has links to your thinking. For example when trying to remember something people tend to look down and to the left. Try and stare straight ahead and remember something easy, like what did you have for lunch yesterday? It makes it much more difficult. That's mostly just me dropping a fact that I find interesting though.

Eye contact is important, but try not to get too hung up on it or you might bug out and look unnatural and weird. I would say that's more of a problem than 'too much' eye contact. Eyes are part of a team along with your smile too remember. Make sure they match one another.

Perhaps you should make a conscious effort to make eye contact while talking until eventually you just get the feel for it and do it naturally. Internalizing things is key to game. If you actually thought the stuff I was saying all the time you'd be way too in your head. I waffled a lot in this post, sorry.

Forcing it is a good first step. Understanding framing really helped me with eye-contact. Since you're posting this I can assume you frame making eye contact as bad in some way or that you believe you'll make bad eyecontact while speaking. Before and/or while making eyecontact, try to really imagine and picture what it would look and feel like to make good (or even sexual) eyecontact. If you can't really imagine it, find a model or example like (Edit: pressed sumit too quick lol) James bond (I'm sure there are better examples but you get the idea)

This was a hard thing for me to deal with when I started out many years ago. However, the cure is simple, just force yourself to do it and not worry about being creepy. If you have trouble with eye contact, you should be erring on the side of being creepy with your eye contact, not the reverse!
