We got into a pretty animated and funny chat about halloween costumes.

No you didn't. You got into a supplicating shitshow where you fed the beast of her attention mongering and then when she got tired of you she stopped texting you.

We messaged more or less non-stop for an hour and a half, and it was fun.

Was the conversation actually fun, or would you just happy to be talking to a pretty girl. Think about it this way: if you were having the conversation with a 300 lb man, would it be just as fun? If not, you shouldnt have been doing it. Girls know when they're having stupid conversations.

Then I asked her where she's going for halloween. She read the message but didn't reply.

She got what she wanted: your attention, your devotion, and your desire to hang out with her. What else does she need from you? Why would she text you back?

And it's already been about an hour.

Ok, you need to stop freaking out. Girls live on a different timeline than us. She might text you back tomorrow or something.

I can't imagine she could have been freaked out by me simply asking about her halloween plans especially considering the vibe we had and it was on point.

She's not freaked out, she just doesn't give a shit. She's a hot girl; she has plenty of Halloween options; why would she share them with you?

Honestly, it seems rude to just suddenly ignore someone after such an intense messaging session, without saying bye or anything.

You need to throw out the regular rules of human interaction when playing the game, son.

You should:

1) Learn a lesson and stop having these retarded text convos with girls. 2) Let it go, and 3) Use my patented "soft rejection" method, where you text her randomly some time in the next week and say something like "well looks my halloween plans are fucked cuz I have to work nonstop; I have to stop volunteering so much!" That puts the power back in your hands. Then after a few weeks pass try again.

wasn't a great start goin non-stop for an hour talking online. i dont know the context but if this was okcupid or something, typical advice is to send 2-3 messages back and forth (space the time out too, like texting, youre a busy interesting non-needy guy that doesnt need a website to pickup women) then ask to exchange numbers or meeting somewhere on a specific date/time/place

Yeah, your perspective is all backwards. An hour between texts is completely normal (you should've been doing that before her), and an hour and a half long text conversation is not fun. How can that possibly be fun. You're basically describing my nightmare right now.

All the rest of the advice here is dead on. When you meet a girl online or on an app, just do a short exchange and set up a meeting.

Have you met her before? If not, she is probably sick and tired of playing phone tag and wanted you to just ask her out already. Messaging of any kind is mostly (if not all) for logistical reasons. Attract in person.

IMO, when you asked where she's going, it sounded a little creepyish especially if you haven't met her in person. I would've asked something like "got any plans this halloween?"
