Hey all,

After a bit of research I can conclude that my biggest obstacle has to do with self-esteem issues. In order to explain what the problem is I have to explain that I think self-esteem has a rational side an an emotional "feelings" side and why I think most of the common self-esteem advice is not applicable to me.

On a rational level, I know I shouldn't have any self-esteem issues. I don't think I'm badly looking, dress smart, I'm doing well in college etc. etc. In short on a rational level I know nothing is wrong with me. That's why common self-esteem advice like affirmations don't do anything for me, because I already know that I'm good enough (I can look around to what I'm studying and sports for 'evidence'), but that's just on a rational level. Only thing I'm not 100% sure about rationally is that I'm a valued person to be around. Although I have lots of friends I sometimes feel I'm just there as a sort of clown. I guess I have to assume this is also pretty irrational.. (see next paragraph)

On a emotional level, I don't really 'feel' that I have self-esteem (hard to explain). This means that internally I don't have this self-esteem and thus I can act as 'alpha' as I want, people will always notice that I'm nervous. As a result I don't feel good enough for women (put them on a pedestal) or even my friends sometimes. I know rationally that is very irrational and not true, but my inner self just doesn't seem to understand. It seems that I have some troubles 'internalizing', if that's what the term is. (hopefully you will know what I'm talking about, it's hard to write about abstract things like feelings).

Any advice on this issue? Suggestions for inner-game books regarding this internalization process perhaps? It's greatly appreciated!
